The injury news is probably for the best, if not strategic. Must've been hella awkward (and humbling) these last few weeks for LaVine, even if self-inflicted.

Evolved from being an after thought role player behind the shadow of Andrew Wiggins, to making a name for himself as a premier star in the making... only for reality to hit that he's not truly a star, wasn't even the go-to-guy on his own team during their one good year, and no other team actually wants him unless he's put on clearance sale.

Lavine is in the same tier that Monta Ellis was. And Lavine has two all star appearances and a gold medal. I'd say he's accomplished enough with his empty stats and no team is gonna take 200 mil of his contract to play like a fring all-star at best for the money that real all-stars make.

I think the best way to facilitate a Lavine trade is by having Caruso in the same deal. It's tough to get equal value for Caruso because he has such a cheap contract. With Lavine attached to Caruso, Chicago can still get picks and real players back.

Lavine alone is a Beal/John Collins salary dump. Caruso alone is a couple late firsts and a project young player.

Getting Caruso isn’t worth taking on the remainder of Lavine’s contract especially since the you could just increase your price and get him outright without Lavine’s contract. If it was 1-2 years then I could see a team doing it, but 3-4 is mehhh.

The irony is that you had some of the media saying that they could initially get more for him than Beal based on his age.

Who on the Lakers would you give up for Lavine?
