That would require another team being willing to take on his contract and his injury issues that come along with it. Whose to say Detroit wouldn't have balked at the trade once Lavine took his physical?

Which means nothing in the grand scheme of things as we've seen on multiple instances of teams changing their minds about trades once they saw a players physical. Remember, Detroit did that exact thing with Bol Bol years ago when he was supposed to be traded there.

If he's having foot surgery now, then Detroit was going to find out about that shyt as well when the trade was announced and he had to take a physical.
