Moving weights slowly is sub-optimal. When you lift "heavy" weights (~90%+ intensity) the movement itself may be slow, but you are applying a lot of force to move that weight. Try and squat/bench/DL/etc your max with a forced slow motion and see if you can still lift it. The effort you put into moving your heavy weights should also be applied to your light weights as well (esp if you care about power and strength).


For power/explosive training where growth isn't important or sought after, sure.

It has a place everywhere else.

padding doesn't do much for me, it's like wearing a condom, it's actually an annoyance. I have yet to exhibit any problems with my shoulders.

My neck gets tore up without padding lol

Pushups 70 < minute
13 wide grip pullups.

I know someome who does 120 pushup < minute & 100 crossfit pullups. Im working towards that.

I'm calling bullshyt on some of ya'll push up numbers. Sounds like ya'll only going half way to the floor with that <minute shyt. If ya'll can do that many in less than a minute, ya'll can't be doing it right.

Smh, at crossfit pull ups. fukk outta here with that shyt. How many muscle ups can ya'll do?

Push ups - 64
Pull Ups - 17
Muscle ups - 6

By the way, I weigh 149.

I can do about 50 solid forehead or cheek to the ground Push-ups

I can do 10-12 wide grip pull-ups..... Shoulder length grip I can down about 15...

Haven't done a marathon push up trial for a while tried today and got to 70 if it was something I worked on I think I can get to 100

Pull ups about 15 I'd say I'll try tomorrow

Lol crossfit pullups aka kipping pullups aka CHEATING

fukk outta here with that. Kipping pullups are a different movement than strict pullups or strict chinups. Kips are more cyclical in motion, and that increases the muscles used, coordination demands, and cycle time. If the practitioner is using them as a way out of strict pullups then yes, they are cheating, but if I'm going in with the express purpose of max rep kipping Pull-ups, then I do not consider that cheating. If I kip during max rep stricts, yes, again it's cheating, but calling out the fact that you're doing kipping pullups beforehand switches the exercise and the demands of that exercise.

They get knocked because y'all don't understand the fact that by kipping I'm trying to do more work is less time. When the goal is different, the methods by which we reach that goal differ as well. You can stay preening in the mirror, while me and my ilk stay trying to increase athletic output and abilities.

We should have a seperate thread for videos.. especially for pull-ups. You gotta be 150< or action man to hit 20 pull-ups.

I tried for a year to get to 25.. I got to 12-14 then gave up.

One of my brehs can do 60 odd pushups but barely 5 pull-ups. He's a short, stocky dude who benches 3 times outta 4 when he goes to the gym. So it's a possibility
