Both SHOULD, but reality is both dont. Household stuff almost always falls on one person.

My mom and dad both had great jobs with the Feds. I'm sure they bought in equal pay. I still only saw my mom cooking/cleaning/doing the laundry. And my dad was always the one to pull his wallet out for anything.
