He will be paying ALL of the rent :queen:

& I would do the cooking, cleaning ect.

I would contribute to groceries and other smaller bills.

If she asked to move in, then I think she should pay half. If he asked her to move in, then I think he should continue to pay the rent, but they should both pay for food and all of the other stuff.

So. let's use easy numbers. Let's say rent is $1000. I pay that. Smaller bills: Lights (need), Food (need), water (need): let's say that costs $500. IF we both take home $2k(about $35k gross a year), then I'm spending half my money on rent and she's spending 25% on the other bills. What if I have other bills? (Cell, student loans/credit cards, car notes, cable, which A LOT OF people have)

And let's not act like EVERYONE has a FT job making 40k or more. There are a LOT Of people that make $15-25k tryna hold down a whole household when they shouldnt and that's not a lot of money.

if I'm paying all the rent that's my apartment now :dame:

The average person lives paycheck to paycheck. So if we moving in together, WE are paying those bills TOGETHER.

Most people have some combo of: Rent, Lights, Food, Cell, Car Note/Insurance, Credit Card, Cable/Internet, Student Loans. If I'm paying all the affiliated house hold bills, will she pay my cell? My car? my CCs? Pay Sallie Mae for me? :lupe: Who's going to save money/invest? :lupe:

I wouldn't move in with a guy who was making that little.

I'd just stay at home living with my father who makes way more than that and where I wouldn't have to pay for anything. :queen:

Remember she said he's moving in, she didn't say they were buying a place together. He should've been able to pay all of his bills alone anyway. The stuff is in his name only as well.

I mean, there aren't that many people that make 50K+...that's rare. unfortunately...and rent is at minimum $700 in a decent apt/area.
$8500 a year in rent....if you only making $25k gross you struggling

I know 6 ppl that gross more than 50K.

2 are retail asst mgrs. ($50k+, New Orleans)
1 is an accountant ($62k, Texas)
1 is a respiratory therapist ($70k, New Orleans)
1 RN ($70k, New Orleans)
1 Executive level @Citi Bank ($150k, NYC)

The 2 mgrs are guys, the other 4 are women...they pay bills...the respiratory tech pays the Majority in her marriage :lupe:

Last quip, I think a lot of people don't realize that well paying jobs take a lot of free time that one may have available to invest into a relationship (eg, 50-70 hour work weeks).

Back on topic, if she moves in with me, she has to help pay. If I move in with her, then I have to help pay. Me and my girl take turns paying for stuff (we don't live together yet).

New Orleans Market rent: $1200. By conventional standards using rounding that means you need to gross $3600 a month, which is $43k, or $21/hour. Not many jobs pay that, you have to be in some sort of career.
