They don't wanna hear that bro they just wanna get the anger out

Never mind that the plaque isn't even an RIAA 'platinum plaque'. But he did get an equivalent of 1 million sold, the plaque commemorates that.

But they don't wanna hear the logic bro
I'm with you, but I'm starting to understand their position.

I think they're basically saying let's stop coddling these rappers with Fake plaques since it's disrespectful to artists who have been in the past and are now currently still selling Platinum the legit way. That's fair.

Still, for me, people listening to something I created a billion times is :blessed::gladbron::krs:. So I can't hate on that no matter what fukkery these labels are up to.

I see what you're saying but spare me on this:mjlol:

Disrespectful to artists? What? Platnimum albums aren't decreasing because the quality of the music is decreasing, they're decreasing because of piracy/streaming.

How much of an impact did D12 have on the culture? Cause they got 2 platinum albums. C-Murder got one, Chamillionaire got one, Ying Yang Twins got 2, Insane Clown Posse got 2 :russ:

Nowadays only the BIGGEST artists go plat. Even this shyt right here with Thug, this whole thread is dumb, THAT PLAQUE IS NOT INTENDED TO BE A PLATINUM PLAQUE. Thug, whether you like him or not, has been one of the 5-10 biggest names in rap since 2014. So why doesn't he sell?? If he came out in 96 he'd have at least 2 plaques by now.

And we think that these new cats are the ones who get participation trophies?? Nah breh I think it's backwards, artists who got a label budget and distribution deals in the 90s got a platinum plaque as a participation trophy :lolbron:

If he came out in '96 he wouldn't have a career. You can't take an artist from now and transplant them to 20 years ago any more than you could take RUN DMC and expect them to blow up in 2016.

RIAA for better or worse does the auditing, certification process, and hands out the plaques. If his plaque ain't from RIAA it's not real, regardless of how people feel about the streaming thing. That's like saying you got a Gold Medal from the Olympics when you bought it from the middle of the mall.

Lastly, the only avenue to enter the music business was major labels in the 90's. These new artists have it far easier because they can completely circumvent the industry via social media, streaming services, etc. It's :mjlol:to say 90's artists that got a distribution deal and label budget had it easier when you can blow up off a Youtube video you filmed in your backyard now.

How did cats blow up nationally back in the day? Were they going to talent shows or were DJs still breaking artists and if you were lucky enough to get your music in their hands and the right person heard it you went to the top. For reference, I'm 32.

They did the same thing for Drake. 1/4 of it's 4x plat certification is from "Hotline Bling".:mjlol:

Drake “Sold” 1.2M Copies Of Views Only Thanks To Old “Hotline Bling” Streams

Fred.
This is like your 100th time posting this incorrect info.

Hotline Biling did not count towards the first week sales but it was totaled in the overall and its not unique from any artist that just drops a loosey that gets added to the album because the song got big.

Future did the same thing with "Wicked"

There was conventions like Jack The Rapper where new artists would go and try to show case their talent.

Jack The Rapper: The rise and fall of the world’s largest hip-hop gathering

Also labels would send talent scouts out to look for prospective artists. Or, like you said, you'd cut a demo and hope it landed in the right hands.

Which is why I'm :dead: at dude talking about distribution deals and budgets. You had to jump through 15 hoops to get either of those things back in the day. Now you don't need physical equipment like samplers or drum machines you can just download a program with all that (didn't exist 20+ years ago) record your song, upload it to a streaming service (didn't exist) share it on social media (didn't exist) and shoot an HD video with your cell phone (again, didn't exist) in 2016. Whether or not your song catches on isn't guaranteed but the entrance fee to even attempt to be an artist is low as fukk now, and it shows.

You a know nothing old head :flabbynsick: who thinks his (old) age covers up the fact that you know nothing about this new frontier.

What I bolded was an example of how you don't get it. I'm not talking about what you had to do to get the deal. I'm talking about how once you got the deal, the path to a platinum plaque was more attainable then than it is now, because there wasn't an easy way for mass piracy, way before streaming, your only option to hear the music was to buy the CD and hear the single on the radio.

I was talking about getting plaques, you're talking about getting discovered and put on. Huge difference, but I shouldn't expect you to know :lolbron:

I'm out and about so I'm not gonna type more, but I'll respond to both these fukkboy posts later :mjlol:
