Thank you. It's not even about young vs old, it's about reality. People blow up off memes and videos filmed in their back yard nowadays and ol boy is talking about "well, after you got signed it was easier back then". :mjlol:

Getting signed was damn near impossible in the first place. And then if your shyt didn't ship or sale, it was over. There wasn't no "let me carve out a niche on social media" or "let me be a meme rapper".

Fred.

You keep dancing around the real topic, and offering examples that aren't relevant. The thread is about platinum plaques, but you keep diverting to going viral and getting attention, probably because you know you're wrong.

So lemme ask it like this. Can you name me ONE (1) artist who has blown up virally and turned that into a platinum album? Because according to you, it's as easy as having a video go viral, then BOOM, platinum.:ohhh:

One? Just one artist who went viral on some dumb shyt then turned it to a platinum album. Really, just One (1). Two (2) if you're feeling generous. I'll wait.

Ayyyy on another note @hex would you mind explaining the chart below that @The Fire posted earlier?

It's a graph of the # of platinum hip-hop albums by year.

platinum-by-year-large.jpg

You'll notice that there's a big drop off starting in 2006. :jbhmm:

Any thoughts or insight as to what's changed in that last decade..? :jbhmm:

We have to assume the quality of hip-hop has gone down right? Dudes just aren't going platinum because their music isn't touching the people the same way right? Different quality?:jbhmm:

Guess they just don't make music like Insane Clown Posse no more :jbhmm:

Artists like Young Buck and Paul Wall would totally go platinum in this climate :jbhmm:

The lil homie Chance tried his best this year, but his music just didn't resonate with anybody this year I guess :jbhmm:

Nowadays cats just don't make iconic and substantial music, like Young Gunz and C-Murder used to:jbhmm:

You right @hex you right

@hex my friend I couldn't help but notice that you goaded a response out of me, then all of a sudden lost interest.:jbhmm:

I see that you're peeping other threads but the cat has your tongue here :jbhmm:

Let me know whenever you find an answer to my question :jbhmm:

Well this @hex fellow sure has time to surf The Booth. He seems be viewing multiple different threads.

Maybe he just forgot about my question :jbhmm:

Any thoughts sir? My question was plainly stated for you multiple times :jbhmm:

Major labels faking numbers should he nothing knew. Apparently they used to buy their own albums and stockpile them in warehouses. That's just what I hear so I don't know if it's true. But you really have everything to gain by faking your numbers.

It seems you have trouble responding to a real question once put on the spot :jbhmm:

Relying on your little research as opposed to actually knowing shyt only goes so far :jbhmm:

And posting links to articles about streaming doesn't mean you're 'dropping gems' or that you know what you're talking about.

It just means your old ass knows how to use google :skip:
