I'm just kinda tripped out by that
Wouldn't a metal or rock forum serve you better ?

As for the other two points, that isn't the only place I've witnessed it,
it's just where it appears to be the most common.

And I agree there is definitely elegance in simplicity.
Well I like the NBA a lot, and this board is good for that. I just sort of looked at the other forums and saw there was a metal thread.

I get what you're saying about people who have an obsession with technicality and all that. In my opinion, they just have no taste and it's easy to be able to point to someone playing drums like this and be like "that looks really difficult so it must be great."

Prog fans are also known to be insufferable, so there's that, too.

I don't like Ghost at all! Such a waste of money (latest album), don't even want to check out earlier stuff. High on Fire latest album is aight, but still too tame for me. Sometimes I check out bands with buzz just to collect shyt.

I'm pretty much into aggressive or fast music, Even stuff like King 810 is cool, because it's aggressive lyrically, Been bumping a lot of E Town Concrete and Hatebreed past few months.

Just heard Haste The Day's Burning Bridges in it's entirety and I think it's like a Metalcore classic. Actually for 25 bucks, I scored two older Unearth albums, brand new Atreyu album, At The Drive In's mainstream debut, and Haste the Day. It was one of the best deals I ever got cd wise.

:russ: Crabcore was like 2008/2009, I hope no one listens to that shyt anymore, Deathcore seems to be the most popular thing among people in my age group these days. There's some Metalcore and Deathcore stuff that I like but overall i'm not a fan of the genre at all, Nu Metal is just flat out unlistenable to me aside from like one Slipknot song(Before I Forget)

Back when Korn and the Deftones kicked off everyone called that shyt nu-metal since it was harder than hard rock but not Metal enough to be listed with the Metallica/Megadeth traditional metal. What I meant to say is that the Crabcore shyte I see now makes the Nu-metal shyt back then seem not so bad in comparsion.

I'm shyt when it comes to keeping with genres and the various sub-genres but Slipknot, Linkin Park, Mudvayne, Adema, Disturbed (:wtb:) and others I care not to try and remember were all part of that wave of bands that just catered hardcore to that angst ridden crowd that really got behind this shyt and made it the driving force it was back in the early to mid 2000's. Outside of the talented Bass player for Mudvayne and the occasional Slipknot track, the Deftones who thankfully never fully fit that mold and went on to make good shyt after that trend died are the only groups I still flock to. I cringe at the shyt I was trying to get into when I started to listen to Rock before the Internet got more involved in bringing new music to me.

They aren't bad, but from what I listened to up until like the third album just sounds like massive amounts of generic filler riffs and angst ridden lyrics and screaming with the only thing separating them from the other lot was the dude's distinct voice. Even more disheartening is the fact that Korn and Disturbed are still making bank off of the shyt they produce now and groups I personally appreciate more like Staind and Godsmack from that era are now defunct. Especially StainD.:mjcry: Break the Cycle was just:blessed:Then they got Toothless real fast with some bland shyt afterwards.

What's considered Metalcore 2010 and onward is far from what the Metalcore I tend to repeat. There was nothing wack about Prayer for Cleansing, (some) Converge, Poison the Well, Misery Signal, Killswitch Engage, Atreyu, Bleeding Through, Still Remains, Old All that Remains, Early Haste The Day, (parts of) Hatebreed, Dead to Fall, Darkest Hour, (parts of) God Forbid, Shadows Fall. That stuff has great replay value to me. And Even though i don't mess with a lot of these younger groups, some make decent tracks (Bullet for My Valentine, Avenged Sevenfold) plus deathcore and djent are very popular now -- just heavier and more technical extension of what was started in 2000-2003

Nu-Metal was aight for a few years, ultimately the one's who survived are bands like Linkin Park, Sevendust, Nonpoint, and Papa Roach who basically are Hard/MainstreamRock but got lumped into Nu-Metal.

This is the next group I'm checking into ... heard great things about them, heard things in past sounded aight, but this new track got me interested again ...

Did someone say Deftones?:mjpls:

By the way the album they were supposed to come out with in September that got pushed back till November might be coming out beginning of 2016 :mjcry:

Anyways this one band I've been messing with heavy lately, Born of Osiris is pretty jamming, I don't know what they would be considered, don't care. They just dropped a new one today. Check out the song " Illuminate"
