They aren't bad, but from what I listened to up until like the third album just sounds like massive amounts of generic filler riffs and angst ridden lyrics and screaming with the only thing separating them from the other lot was the dude's distinct voice. Even more disheartening is the fact that Korn and Disturbed are still making bank off of the shyt they produce now and groups I personally appreciate more like Staind and Godsmack from that era are now defunct. Especially StainD.:mjcry: Break the Cycle was just:blessed:Then they got Toothless real fast with some bland shyt afterwards.
Are we talking Deftones 3rd album or Disturbed 3rd album?

Anyways this one band I've been messing with heavy lately, Born of Osiris is pretty jamming, I don't know what they would be considered, don't care. They just dropped a new one today. Check out the song " Illuminate"

Never heard a BOO album, but checked out a few tracks, and they were aight, replayed them them quite a bit.

Like Bow Down and Machine a lot. will check illuminate now.

can't find that track, but found Resilience and goddes of Dawn, pretty cool. will give a real listen in morning.

Disturbed. I should give those first three albums another listen since it's been years since then.
White Pony's the third album from the Deftones if I can recall and that album was pretty damned good.

Yeah i listen to metal from time to time. Mainly nu-metal or alternative. Used to listen to melodic death metal years ago... not really feeling all that screamo shyt.

Glad I gave Sylosis a second chance, will support their music (might as well use my amazon prime membership). Digging a lot of their stuff. They mix my favorite Metal genres well.

Lastfm groups them with bands like Revocation and Battlecross. Don't care much for Battlecross. Revocation is aight, but not hitting me.

Can't rock with any metal that has a bunch of death growls, cookie monster or screamo type vocals:scust::camby:I also prefer metal with clearly audible blues-based sounds, regardless of what else you put on top of it.

I like Metal but I do agree that the scene has some racist idiots :yeshrug:
I won't sit here and say it's the majority of the scene or anything of that nature
but if you spend enough time on a rock/metal forum and there will be a few ignorant,
racist, loudmouths who make sure to let you know how they feel about Black People,Black Music
and anyone who disagrees with them
. And if it's a Black art form they can usually speak at length
about white cats (Eminem, Hall & Oates, Bill Evans etc.) then undermine black performers and greats
in those genres.

And most metal cats are just not Jazzers the level of knowledge and chops it requires
to be an incredible Jazz guitarist vs. a Metal guitarist is pretty big IMO.

They get salty as fuk when you bring up the Blues roots of metal:lolbron:

Found this cd in the drawer, weak album, but this track is fire even though it's just a Hybrid Theory song with a heavier Breakdown.

always loved this song, like LP but Modern Metal version.

After The Burial is my favorite of the new acts. Latest Killswitch is one of the best albums.

And thoughts on this?

They get a lot of hate on these news sites, but I really dig the blend of styles and THAT BASS LINE!
