That's not the same at all, ESPECIALLY when all three were on the Bulls at the same time.Caleb projects to be HIM
Passing on him because you have a decent QB would be like the Bulls passing on Rose because they had Hinrich and Ben Gordon.

It is the same. The argument is drafting best player available vs for need/position.That's not the same at all, ESPECIALLY when all three were on the Bulls at the same time.
the cupboard here isnt bare though, you draft Caleb at #1 and he has Moore, Kmet, Mooney (or whatever WR piece we add), solid running back core, a young improving OL and a young dynamic looking defense - and not to mention like 90 mil in capspace and a rookie QB contract for 5 yearsJustin can do things that maybe 3-4 other QBs can do in this league. Just a matter of putting it all together. If you put a great team around him, heāll look better and the Bears will contend. You can take a chance on a āgenerationalā QB with that top pick, but the team still has holes, and thereās a chance he wonāt pan out. Alex Smith was taken with the top pick, and he didnāt. The generational QB of that draft was Aaron Rodgers who won 4 MVPs, but only went to the Super Bowl once. Patrick Mahomes is a generational QB whoās struggling to get wins as of late because his receivers canāt catch and they make mistakes. At the end of the day, you need a team.

I was higher on the Bears to start the season than most. While Fields didn't play well in the beginning, coaching didn't help in those games, and there were a bunch of injuries. Also, we didn't have Sweat and Yannick (or whatever his name is) in the beginning either. If we had this same team at the beginning, record might look a little different and the talk would be different.the cupboard here isnt bare though, you draft Caleb at #1 and he has Moore, Kmet, Mooney (or whatever WR piece we add), solid running back core, a young improving OL and a young dynamic looking defense - and not to mention like 90 mil in capspace and a rookie QB contract for 5 years
and we dont have to give up any picks or assets to get him - and still have another top 10 pick in the mix and the rest of our draft capital (and whatever you get back from Fields, probably like a 2nd & a 4th)
#1 picks have gone to MUCH worst situations than we have here
this is all going to come down to how high Poles and his team grade out Caleb - if they grade him as an A+, franchise changing QB, they are going to take him IMO
we have ample resources to immediately build a strong cast around Caleb if Poles went that route
That's if you think Fields potential is only to that of a Hinrich or Gordon were for the Bulls. I think Fields has a higher ceiling than Williams. The question is if he can unlock his potential. It is the same. The argument is drafting best player available vs for need/position.
ultimately it all comes down to how Poles evaluates Caleb. I think every option is on the table.I was higher on the Bears to start the season than most. I feel like the if the bears lose and the offense looks bad Sunday Justin and getsy are out itās that simple I personally would fire eberflus as well but I think he staysIm going to get so tired of this discourse between now and April
Im not trying to go too overboard with it, I just find the situation we are in to be fascinatingIm going to get so tired of this discourse between now and April
You better get a decent haul and be right..and I know the thought of using that pick to help build around Fields, but I dont know that Poles will see it that way
he sees Fields as a guy who will be costing him 40 mil a year rather soon - thats more challenging to build around that a QB on a fresh rookie deal
the inverse to that is you canāt be wrong if you stay with Fields. if Caleb is a superstar and Poles passed on both him and Stroud, we would need Justin to take another huge leap in his development and even then it still might not look good. Iām surprised people are so down on Caleb here, itās not like we are talking about replacing Justin with Derek CarrYou better get a decent haul and be right..
You want a young Cutler or a shorter Fields? I'm sticking with who I know and seen improvement from. Poles better hope Williams can be better.
