@BK The Great can’t even make a cogent argument because he keeps contrasting “conscious” music with “entertainment” when in reality music itself is always entertainment.

So yeah, if you fail at entertaining people, no one cares what your message is and even still that doesn’t make the song any better inherently.

This is why I don’t respect Dee-1 (in addition to being revolted by a lot of religious music personally) clout chasing instead of counter-programming with quality music. Dee-1 has no quality music.

You made your mind already. No point of even having a conversation about it. Be entertained then :manny:

You’re the fan of these nikkas who can’t compete.

And I’m generally a supporter of Mos Def’s music and others in that “conscious” lane, unfortunately many of them can’t make songs that are worth a damn

Mos Def was talking about the system pushing the music with a bad message behind it. Even Meek said it that they get paid more to rap about the bad stuff. Would Drake ever say these things in a interview?

What's wrong with an artist rapping about something else though? You don't like Nas or Gangstarr? Public Enemy? Not everything has to be just entertainment, nothing wrong with someone actually saying something in their music. Drake is a product of what labels make money off which most of the time has no value.

Funny, how these shallow rappers have EVERYTHING catered to them for the last 20+ years, but God forbid if you have an artist that believes in integrity for their music. :heh:

All of a sudden, the world falls apart when someone doesn't want to conform to what sells at the moment. Some crabs in a barrel type shyt. Hypocritical shyt.

That's what happens when you got fans eating everything that these artist drop, regardless if it's trash.
