Dumb smart babble, important to whom?
Drake doesn’t rap from a macro perspective, or through the lenses of others, he’s micro and from his own perspective and people find whatever the fukk they find in his music. How fun would it be if every rapper tackled rap in the same way :snoop:

Whether that’s tales and bars about confidence, growth, family, love, happiness etc. Those type of things kill and affect a lot more people in a major way than stories about the Mayans or UFOs in the 1955.

Drake range is super broad and people still expect it to go from Beyoncé to Jay electronica now

There’s gonna come a time he’s gonna have to grow a bit in his music, he’s shown it from time to time but he’s not getting younger. Will his fans even buy it if he raps about some other subject besides flaunting confidence and trying to be the best? Most of his fanbase are teenagers or younger adults that might be in college or something along with a female fanbase. His music is pretty shallow with very few substance behind it.

How is he writing for others if he has a ghostwriter?

Styles blew him up with a sub about this years ago when he said the trendy thing to do is to hire a ghost writer with a ghostwriter.

If my memory is correct this was around the Girls Love Beyonce period.

Personally I think most of his shyt is mediocre for the past maybe 7-8 years. But he gives everyone 2-3 songs per album so it works :yeshrug:

As far as maintaining, breh has been doing this for 15-16 years now, never taking even a short break. It’s not like it would be weird if he stopped being the biggest shyt out.

I think when he slows down his pace he might start doing other shyt. But I mean he still takes risks like that electronic album, so who knows

I never understood what the actual truth was on the ghostwriter thing. How is he writing for others if he has a ghostwriter? Is someone penning ALL of his bars? Cause he's denied anyone writing those timestamp tracks. Which are some of the ones Id use in a versuz. If someone wrote everything then yea he's closer to Diddy. Im not even Drakes biggest fan. He's certainly not in my top 10 or 20. But hes in alot of peoples top 10. Kendrick, Cole and Drake are considered the GOATS of the 2010s. Not really debatable. To my main point he has enough hip hop tracks to stand on the stage with Mos. So.. :manny:
Snoop wrote for Daz and Kurupt and Kurupt and Daz wrote for Snoop.

If a breh had a good idea, another breh might’ve taken it. Just like producers send songs with skeleton bars and flows on them sometimes and the rapper fukks with it and takes it.

It’s really not rocket science, the only reason a talented rapper like Drake or Snoop wouldn’t take something is for ethical reasons not because they can’t do shyt on their own. But obviously the ethics doesn’t bother them, just a few nobodies on the internet, and fortunately for them there is no MLB type of hall of fame in rap that those people are included in. Here the masses and nerds choose, and they wouldve chosen Bonds :yeshrug:

One thing that might really be doping though is that these guys might get writer’s block and the bigger you are the more people will wanna help you solve that. But that’s the perks of having made it to that level in first place

He’s recycling subject matter for 10 years already, there’s nothing he hasn’t rapped about yet that stands out anymore. He’s got strip climb anthems with Sexxy Red, if that isn’t generic than I don’t know what to say :manny:That scary hours pack was better than his entire album and even that was recycled product.

You just want to be entertained, don't care about the message about whether is bad or not. Drake doesn't come from the struggle so he can't speak on it. He's basically born with a silver spoon in his mouth. That's why he can't make music with anything besides the stupid shyt he says in his raps.

I read books and I have degrees. I know where to find quality information when I want it. I know more than most of these high school dropouts with microphones anyways about particular topics. So yes, I want to be entertained above everything else.

What's wrong with an artist rapping about something else though? You don't like Nas or Gangstarr? Public Enemy? Not everything has to be just entertainment, nothing wrong with someone actually saying something in their music. Drake is a product of what labels make money off which most of the time has no value.

I didn’t say anything was wrong with it. Whats wrong is claiming that music is inherently better or downplaying less “revolutionary” music as lower quality. The problem is, personally, that MOST of these "deep” artists dont know how to make good music.

“Saying something” is a stupid tactic when the main goal is entertaining. Plus, a lot of people lean on social messaging to cover up for the fact they can’t make shyt people want to hear.

Mos Def can make good music though. He can also rap well. He doesn't cover up anything. Drake is cosplaying as a Hip Hop head while making other genres of music. Of course he can get a pass because his demographic is different. His fans will call Mos Def boring.

Is that why he is so inconsistent?

Did you even listen to the last Black Star album?

Drake is cosplaying as a Hip Hop head
Drake is a hip hop head. The guy literally had Talib showing him love 3 months ago for posting the blackstar album
while making other genres of music.
So? Entertainment

That sounds like a mos def problem

This isn’t a legitimate argument. If conscious artists make good music, I listen to it.

You’re elevating the message over the music and thats why you are losing this argument.

Entertainment always supersedes. Conscious artists can make entertaining music, but they often neglect doing so because they think their message is more important. And it never is.
