Game Pass is not a neutral service. I sub to Game Pass direct to Microsoft so why the hell would a Sony or Nintendo allow me to access a subscription from a competitor on their platform that they don't get a benefit from?

Of course Microsoft wants Game Pass on PlayStation. It more than doubles their potential customer base overnight. The real question is why would Sony ever want Game Pass on PlayStation? Why would they especially want it when they're pushing PlayStation+ Extra and Premium?

There isnt really a way to make Game Pass as it is on PlayStation to make sense. Not unless Microsoft wants to pay Sony the cut of whatever a game would have made selling on PlayStation on top of the deal they give the publisher for getting it on Game Pass.

I'll never understand the desire some of these people have for Microsoft quitting consoles and becoming a 3rd party. The same Microsoft that they say has no games should be a 3rd party developer.

Corporations do whatever they can get away with and in the absence of any competition, the consumer abuse begins.

Personally I hope Microsoft figures it out and recovers their brand.

I think a lot of people are stuck in the past, thinking MS First Party is still just Halo, Gears, and Forza. MS First Party now incudes games like COD, Skyrim, Doom, Diablo, THPS, and Minecraft. they're in a position where it's in their best interest to sell their games on their competitor's platform. but that doesn't mean Gamepass is coming to those platforms

Here's a stupid idea I thought of (somewhat of a joke). Imagine if Microsoft & Sony was like "let's fukk the customers, together". Say they both ditch physical media completely and go digital only next gen. They have a section dedicated to the other's subscription service in each other's storefront (on each other's console). But get this (here's the kicker). To access the other company's library of games. You need to subscribe and pay for that company's highest tier. On top of the primary company's highest tier. But in return. You get to play both company's game's no matter what console you get, locally, and streaming (I know this isn't possible btw). You wouldn't be able to get Gamepass without PS+ on your PS6 and vice versa. Fukk it, while we're at it. Ditch monthly, and make 3 months (Premium/Ultimate) the lowest tier you could buy.

So for example. You buy the next gen Xbox. You pay for Gamepass Ultimate. If you want to unlock access to the Playstation library in it. You'll have to subscribe to them (PS+ Premium 3 months) as well. They might could just make it a higher tier. But this way would be maximum fukkery. $300 a year for both.

That’s been their main goal for a minute.

And it’s inline with the rest of Microsoft’s services.

I really don’t have much of a problem with it.

As long as they don’t keep buying up big ass publishers to essentially force you to purchase GP.

PS6 will have GP integration on Day 1.
Why would Playstation allow that?

The writing has been on the wall for a minute.

Xbox as a brand is DONE. Midpass is all they got, but they can't take it to other consoles until they pull the plug on their hardware division.

The funny part is that these motherfukkers still won't put out any games. They out here forming a Voltron to push out garbage like what they did to Rare. :stopitslime:

So how is microsoft helping? by having a more expensive subscription service?

So it wouldn’t be a monopoly. It would be one failed platform exiting and another taking its place, thats capitalism, thats competition. Yall just dont like when one side is clearly not offering real competition.

Its not a charity, microsoft has to make something people want to buy in order to be competitive.
Depends on the tier, but gamepass core is cheaper than essentials. However, ultimate without doing xbox live gold conversion does cost more than premium/extras.

I am not arguing that Microsoft failed markets outside of North America, UK, and anglophone countries. I am just saying cheering for Microsoft exit isn't going to be a good thing for consumers because if Sony gets the high-end console market then they'll have the freedom to do whatever they want with pricing. I am just referencing that they've already raised PS+ by 30% and not many complaints and many accepting that due to them being leaders. Now imagine if they have the market to themselves. They would have the freedom to raise price of plus even more and also raise the price of consoles because console gamers aren't just going to build a PC or opt for a steamdeck/windows handheld.

Lastly, I feel if MIcrosoft exits the only company willing to fill their void will be Apple, which could be interesting imo.

They already sell games on competitors platforms. They have Minecraft for example. There are obvious titles they aren’t going to remove from other platforms because it would kill those franchises. That doesn’t mean that everything or even most of what they make is going to be on those platforms though.

Some of that stuff you listed I think they pull back. Doom, Elder Scrolls, stuff like that is likely just going to be on PC and Xbox. Stuff like Overwatch, WoW, CoD with large online communities and multiplayer is likely to continue as is.

You really want Sony to have an eternal monopoly on consoles? :why:

Sony stans believe that they are entitled to EVERYTHING while justifying jacking up prices forever. They want to have a $1200 console and have no public pushback.

Why would Playstation allow that?
To allow PS players to play Xbox exclusives while taking a 30 percent cut.

It will be a GP “Select” or some shyt. Won’t include games that are available for sale on PS. Just Xbox exclusives. Halo, Starfield, Gears, etc…

Apple is not going to step into the console gaming market. They make too much money on mobile gaming to bother with it. Hell they’re trying to put high production games on iPhone now.

If Microsoft exits Sony will gobble those customers up and even if another company wanted to enter the space they’d be at a weaker position than Microsoft is at right now and it would be much more difficult to change that.

You gotta remember when Sony entered the home console market the entire industry for the most part got behind them and pushed them. For a new player that won’t be the case. No new player is entering console gaming and even coming close to completing with Sony.

Xbox doesn't even have enough exclusives to make that sort of deal appealing to be reality about it.
