No ,absolutely no one has said the 720 won't function offline. Plenty of products including the Ps4 have been described as "always on, always connected" it's pure conjecture to believe the Xbox won't function offline.

always on, always connected is different from NEEDING to be connected to play a game. Whole different ballgame right there bruh.

“Durango will implement different power states so that it can always be powered on, but will draw minimal electricity when not in use,” the document reads. “The console will be ready instantly when users want to play, and will always maintain a network connection so that console software and games are always current. With this “Always On, Always Connected” design, users will quickly and easily enjoy their connected entertainment experiences, with no waiting for the console to restart or install games.

This is the paragraph that all these rumors come from. Nowhere here does it even imply that a connection will be "required" for games to function. This is all marketing speak to push online features to developers/publishers.

If we are believing random kotaku emails then the durango will have two APU's as well. Remeber what y'all told me.

If there was any sliver of truth to the 2 APUs in the Xbox 720, legitimate news sites like IGN, GameSpot, & etc. would be running with this rumor & reporting it. But I haven't seen shyt on this besides on this messageboard.

The only rumor about the Xbox "always on" situation that has been confirmed as legitimate is the one I posted. Again you can read it yourself straight from Microsoft. If a connection was required it would be stated there, but it's not.

And you forgot this part of the story

That said, a caution and a caveat: other sources familiar with the codenamed Durango console have told us that they are still unaware of any Microsoft plans regarding an online requirement.

Why would they tell some developers and not others? This is supposedly a dev friendly decision. Shouldn't they be promoting it to all devs to gain their support?

I thought always on just meant the next box had to be always online, but it also has to always be powered on too?:wtf:

have to be connected to start up a game = no offline option. you could still have it on, but you won't be able to play games with no internet connection.

A rumor from an email confirmed it recently it must be true.

Stop with the "connection needed" to start games shyt. It's just as far fetched as the two APUs rumor. Yet you have no problem treating it like its already been confirmed.
