X-Men: Dark Phoenix Official Thread (2018)

I enjoyed the movie

With me I kept switching back and forth between thinking this movie was good and bad. At times I wondered if it was PERSONALLY MY OWN FAULT for wanting them to keep going forward.

Also I felt like perhaps the movie turned out this way because Marvel wanted to give a big "fukk you" to this franchise and its fans for not being their work.

Last night I jusy rewatched the Apoc ending and it was done way better than anything in Dark Phoenix. The way the music played, the reveal that Jean was there, when Apocalypse realized what was going to happen.

And funny thing is I remember thinking that movie was a huge step down from DOFP and first class when I saw it.

I feel like they scaled down too many plots and characters. It made this whole franchise suffer. I didn't like how Apocalypse was handled, no mister Sinister, too much focus on Wolverine and Mystique. Logan and the 1st and 2nd movies were the best in my opinion. Last stand had some good fight scenes but the story was weak. First class and DOFP were solid.

Watched it. Not as bad as I thought I'd be but not good either. Mags & Beast on some kill Jean then get arrested & 20 minutes later on some save Jean? All the characters motivation was stupid as fukk.

Nightcrawler bothers me the most, dude random teleporting without knowing where he's going or what he might teleport into, he don't do that. I forgot Quicksilver was even in this shyt. Mystique, just no. The bad guys being random nobody's.

Was as bad as Apocalypse but they fukked it up.

*Storm, Jean, and Scott were introduced. It's ok for us to know nothing yet because they were being introduced
*Magneto's motivation of trying to live his life in peace and his daughter being killed
*Charles not being an overzealous egomaniac
*Magneto/Mystique relationship essentially left back at DOFP
*interaction between Quicksilver and Magneto with QS finding out and him seemingly considering telling Mags
*Wolverine appearance consistent with what we knew would happen to him from DOFP
*Hank stays loyal and rational
*satisfying and believable definitive ending
*Quicksilver's epic house saving scene
*Charles vs Apoc fight mentally
*Magneto fighting off Apoc

Apocalypse wasn't just better but dramatically better.

I got you & I agree on some points. I think Apocalypse was worse of a movie cause to me Phoenix seems like they at least tried a little but knew it wasn't gonna work. Apocalypse just feels like they made shyt up & just ran with it. Not the movie itself, just how badly they fukked it up.

*Apoc iconic bad guy they totally fukked up. Even his powers.
*Apoc showing his actual powers is a mind game & fake.
*Apoc going after strong mutants & picks drunk Angel. I like Archangel but nobody putting him on the roster.

@Sinister I'm just glad you stayed out these Fox movies so they couldn't fukk you up. The MCU wants you & I expect nothing less than absolute fukkery. Make Scott important.

saw this last week and it was pretty bad. i was bored and wanted to leave. the fights kind of saved it but it was still underwhelming. sucks because they have a talented cast but the story was pretty bad. didn't do dark phoenix justice.

If you're a casual it might not bother you much, it's pretty weak movie with good actors. Decent action. Nothing special. A good B movie.

If you go in with comic book mind it's horrible. Try to just let it be, Marvel got it from here.

I think Sansa did a good job acting. Outside some stupid shyt I put more on the writing & directing I think she played the role her best.
