Comic Book flicks 101

Read the material.
Watch the cartoons.
Do not go on "star power". Franchises sell not actors.
You are not smarter than the fans/original writers/artists.
Honor the costumes.
If you have to deviate for film purposes (time length or merge a story line), make subtle changes but still honor the character arcs.
Stay away from Snyder/Singer/Kinberg or anyone who wants to do their "take" on a characters(s).

How this is difficult is mind blowing.

Even I made the expression when I went back and read that

But still, that's what they get.

We never once got to see Wolverine in his iconic costume.
(no ) Nearly all of the great female characters were totally wasted in these Fox movies. (Storm, Rogue, Kitty Pryde, Psylocke, Emma Frost)
Colossus got more shine in Deadpool than he ever did in the main X-men series.
We never got a proper Gambit (I rag on him a lot, but he's still a fan favorite who deserved better)
They turned Apocalypse into Ivan Ooze.
They ran the Professor X vs Magneto storyline into the ground.
Cyclops is supposed to be the LEADER of the X-men and these movies had him running around like Louis Tully in Ghostbusters.

...And now Dark Phoenix is doing Fant4stic numbers in the box office.

What the fukk happened here?

How is not an irreconcilable plothole that she died in the end if Days of Future past shows she grows to be at least the same age as she was in X3? Logan also explains that in the new altered timeline she died along with the rest of the X-men at the hands of one of Charles' psychic seizures.

Also if the Phoenix force only entered here in outer space then how did she beat Apocalypse last film?...fukk that why was it that she killed her mom and injured her dad and her powers were out of control?

Why did Mystique say that the women have been saving the men when Cyclops, Nightcrawler, and Quicksilver were all pivotal in the mission we just saw in addition to Charles' insistence being the sole reason that the team up there was saved?

When did Charles become so selfish? He damn near had a Dr Lumis in Halloween 2 like heel turn.

Why is Hank blaming Charles for Mystique's death? I get he lied to her but he never created the Phoenix force, nor did he tell Mystique to reach out to Jean in that manner. Also Hank was the one who convinced her to stay. Mystique being a thief who broke in and entered is why their relationship began in the first place.

Why did ANYONE think Magneto stood a chance at killing Jean?

Why is Scott so unwilling to have Jean die if that's that's the only way to ensure everyone else's safety?

When Wolverine told Charles back then to find Jean (along with Storm and Cyclops) why did he not warn him back then about Phoenix? She still haunted his nightmares at that time.

I feel like I can go on and on.

.......yeah I have not seen the movie and wasn't planning to. I just came in here to see how bad they fukked up this classic saga. Chris Claremont must be pissed right now. With that being said Jean is supposed to be a freakishly powerful psionic even without the Phoenix. That's why the Phoenix considers her the perfect host. Maybe when she took out Apocalypse she was relying on her own powers. The Phoenix force had been watching her from space before it possessed her according to the comics. Waiting for the right moment to bond with her.

Last night I jusy rewatched the Apoc ending and it was done way better than anything in Dark Phoenix. The way the music played, the reveal that Jean was there, when Apocalypse realized what was going to happen.

And funny thing is I remember thinking that movie was a huge step down from DOFP and first class when I saw it.
