Right when he first made his initial moves on rogue.
So gambit makes a move on rogue.

Then his estranged wife shows up like pages later.
if i remember right. It was during the brood possess ghostrider early lee run of xmen books. I wanna say xmen issue 7 or 8 maybe.

It may have been maybe a three issue gap. From when gambit makes an initial move on rogue.

Then the marauder affiliation they wrote into play. When it never needed to be part of his origin. Except his origin was written by hacks after the lee era.

He was not an xmen for eighty issues.
Till storm saved the series every time. Then storm kept uncanny leadership. Yet the flagship became xmen 1 because Jim lee migrated over to xmen from uncanny.
whereas while portico took over uncanny. Which at the time. Uncanny was the best read between the two. It just so happened it was Jim Lee's time. Where Jim lee just lapped whilce. When previously they were tied.
for hottest ever in thr era.

All those early Jim lee issues.
Whilce was on fye.
Plus produced the goat storm close up cover there as well.

Along with a lot of storm covers. that are next level. Considering the Windsor Smith era storm covers.

The animation style at first seems like it's undercooked but in action it's not bad, IMO.

Well yeah...the Storm led X Men was when the team became a phenomenon worldwide. Chris Claremont was on FIRE in the 80s...Mutant Massacre, Inferno, Sinister, Magneto's backstory and face turn, Hellfire Club, Dark Phoenix Saga, etc.
