The way the company is making money right now (being paid in advance) I don’t think they care.

And honestly, the WWE can always make a new star. But AEW will always have a hard time doing so (at least for now)

The four most over acts in AEW are all people that were never in the WWE...

Hangman
Dr. Britt Baker
Darby Allen
Orange Cassidy

Why are you hung up on homegrown talent? WWF's golden era was led by Hoegan (AWA) and Macho (Memphis) :dahell:
Yep, Cody putting out that stupid quote about not signing "oversaturated WWE guys" is the only reason people have a battery in their back for this dumbass angle. The concept of "homegrown" talent has always been very minuscule.

Page was in NJPW and ROH
And i’d argue Mero and Jericho are more over than anyone else you mentioned.

again i’m an AEW fan and I stopped watching the E. But Vince can make someone credible in 2 months, so I’m sure he sees his talent as more disposable than other promotions because of it. Thats me trying to rationalize the decisions to let some of these wrestlers go. Its almost like an assembly line, hes like the Ford of wrestling. Thats what promotions have always had trouble competing with. I’m not trying to go out of my way to shyt on AEW.

It’s all good until AEW catch starts beating them in ratings and becoming bigger online.
IF Bryan and punk really signed and I would be surprised if bray didn’t show up before years end. AEW is going to start being a legit contender.

AEW is a 2 and a half year old company who spent a year and a half in the pandemic. They didnt have a library to sell or roster they wanted to cut to generate "revenue". They also spent a lot preparing for the future with the video game and licensing music without any live shows. Of course theyre in the red.

The Elite were made in Japan/ROH, well before AEW was a thing. Thats not homegrown talent. FOH.
...Hangman was a glorified youngboy then. They built Hangman from the ground up with this angle.

there appears to be clear separation between the on air-product and managing the books
if a wrestler salary seemingly outweighs their worth to the company (Braun, Bray) or if creative never has anything for them or if this replaceable, cheaper talent on NXT...seems like management is quick to pull the trigger

It's a gad danged business. :mjtf:

You thought Vince was in it for the Meltzer stars? :gucci:

That's like thinking Lisa Ann was in porno for the fake orgasms. :heh:

No, but would it kill them to put some effort in their shows on a consistent basis? Nobody is asking for 5 star matches every week, just good television.

Everyone was in ROH or NJPW, but yet Triple H gets credit for signing & bringing them up in NXT. What's your point? Hangman wasn't widely known to the audience prior to AEW. ROH & NJPW don't have any sort of wide audience like you think it does. He was still a high school teacher until like 2016.

I also don't know what show you're watching, but Miro isn't even close to being over as those 4 names I listed. Either way, AEW has created 4 new stars and aren't dependent on already established guys. I could even add MJF to that list too making it 5. Sammy Guevara and Jungle Boy (even though I don't like him, I can't deny he's over) are also some honorable mentions.
