Really doesn't have anything to do with AEW. WWE is beholden to the investors and NBC/FOX.

Thing is the cuts do help AEW and if AEW starts to take away some of whatever wrestling market share is out there... WWE will seem dumb for helping.

AEW already the #1 show on cable on Wednesdays. They are way bigger than ECW and TNA ever were.

I mean really the only lost so far is Bryan from WWE's perspective. Yeah Bray sold merchandise but most of his big matches were flops and they might have been tired of trying with him.

Some of these guys AEW has brought over like Black and Andrade are top talents along with Punk and Bryan who are game changing acquisitions. Joe would be kinda the same but HHH got him back real quick.

Funnily enough AEW hasn't signed any of the female releases besides Tay Conte I guess. Seems they (or Kenny) want that division to be more homegrown. Or they don't have a Sasha or Bayley type to scoop up at this point.

Because on Wall Street the bottom line is what matters. They need to cont. to increase revenue and EPS year over year they don't wanna be a slow growth company.

The cuts allow them to increase that bottom line and outside of a few talents i'm sure Nick khan feels they can just create newer cheaper stars..

I'm reading reports that AEW is still in the red, i.e. they have yet to turn a profit.

Mostly from that bad video game deal. AEW Not Making Any Profit Due to Investment in Video Game

I'm not saying they can't or won't just right not it's not happening. Time will tell.

good post maybe I’m wrong but Andrade has had one match in almost 2 months? And every time I see him he’s tryna do a struggle promo now he’s on his second manager

i read the opposite that they are profitable now. But regardless Tony is a billionaire. We don't know how deep his pockets will be on the investment.

“I know the wrestling end is profitable this year. We're going to make money in wrestling this year because of our great partnerships. Our pay-per-views are way ahead of anybody's projections. They're all up year over year. So far, our two biggest pay-per-view events we've ever done have been the two we've done in 2021. They're both up year over year in a major way.

“Going back to live events with great advanced sales and the big things we're doing like this announcement of AEW Dynamite Grand Slam in New York. The week before, the huge crowd we've already got over 9,000 tickets sold in Newark and we'll definitely sell over 10,000 tickets. I expect to sell out Newark also the week before we're here and just love the schedule as we go into all out this summer. It's a great time to talk about it, so to your point, we've got this great wrestling operation."

on the games: "“We put $20million into Epic Games, which looks pretty smart now because it's worth a lot more than that now. So gaming is something we know a lot about."

Yeah hence my last sentence.

But you can have billions and have a company still fail. Just look at WCW and Ted Turner, Trump and his bankruptcies.
