Of course you need white fans but that doesn't mean you have to go on tour with a fukkin rock group. They were starting to crossover into some different shyt than what they were really about.
Nothing wrong with that, they touching different audiences and the group needed that if you ask me. As long as they came with the real shyt right after to balance it.

I mean Jay-Z did the same thing with Lincoln park.

If they stayed only focused on the day ones they would make no money because white people actually buy the records.

Random thought: why did it seem like in this doc ghost and Rae weren't really cool with each other like they used to be?

Ghost really just seemed off, period.
behind the scenes and premiere they were together laughing etc..
plus they still perform in duo..
they are thick like glue and paper.

Looking back at it, I don't blame them for not continuing the rage tour. They were starting to enter that "rap group white people who don't listen to rap like" category with that shyt. They were starting to lose their core fanbase with that type of shyt. RZA is a smart guy, but his decision making is questionable at times.

The irony being that's EVERY highly successful, still relevant, mainstream rapper now. Once again RZA thinking well before his time.

AND Zach de la Rocha is very hip-hop

Im saying. People here seem to think that Rage was a pop rock band or something. They were quite the opposite and ironically were picked up by the MTV crowd

Finished the doc. Man...I agree it needed another ep, but overall? Great fukking documentary. Very well done.

Last two eps were gut punches man. All the ODB shyt, his mom's quote about not crying because she cried when he lived...him coming back from jail and being a ghost of his former self...damn. And fukk Dame Dash btw. And fukk that manager, Jared lmao.
:pacspit:

Ultimately...the manager was right. They had it all and dropped the ball. Leaving the Rage tour was a major fukk up. Lots of money was left on the table, and perhaps more importantly decisions like that impact your relationship with booking agents, fees, etc. And after that the money problems just seemed to compound and compound.

I've always felt RZA was deceptive and still feel that way...but there's no denying that the Clan also made stupid decisions and didn't think about business right. Them attacking Divine for taking a commission...what? A 20% one at that? Most big time managers gonna take more than that. At least 25-30 if not more.

Just based on the demand for old school hip hop, and even more so WU hip hop, in Europe...these dudes should all be rich today. KRS makes a healthy living to this day due to Euro cacs. How these dudes couldn't turn that into a yearly European tour blows my mind. Then you got the brand and clothing...they couldn't figure out how to revive that shyt? NOW with streetwear being king? Disappointing.

End of the day tho I'm glad they're all cool with each other and touring again. Bless all those dudes. Major part of my childhood and I'm still a fan to this day.

I think they still sell clothing.

As someone that’s worked personally with a few of these cats and their handlers in the realm of music booking, let’s just say that some of them decided on managers that are plugged in, and others are still rolling with their boys from the block.

I dealt with some shyt working a particular bill with one of these dudes managers and had the wildest 3 months of my life professionally speaking from the fallout afterwards. I can look back and laugh on it now but I was sweating bullets when it was going on

Ok I get all of that, but my ultimate question in all of this that has not been answered by someone close to them. Did Divine do them dirty or did none of them have any knowledge of what goes on behind the scene? I have heard numerous songs, interviews in which they state Vine was ripping them off. Listening to him talk and them talk I get the feeling he was fair but they were dudes who knew nothing about the industry outside of rapping. I could be wrong but his story to me was the most interesting as all I ever heard about him was negativity

Can't speak on it from any of my experiences. But from the optics of some of those scenes with the whole clan and Devine arguing in the kitchen, it seemed like a case of both.

A lot of those guys didn't know shyt about contracts and didn't have anyone around them that did. And I think that provided a unique situation for someone around them that had a little more wherewithal and picked up a little more knowledge on the business end to be opportunistic to the fact that his brothers didn't know what he did.

Like I said, some of these guys made the decision to align themselves with management that knows what they're doing in the realm of the music industry and others didn't. The ones that have good management are the ones you would think have good management based on the moves they make. Theres a reason a couple of these cats don't make major moves these days and it's shytty to see because it all comes back to good management.
