Just finished this.

Great Doc. With all those members there was always going to be conflict. Good to see them around that table at the end though but Capadonna speech and asking for 5 dollars at the end was real!!

Gza didn't say much, he always that low key?

I finally watched this over the weekend and honestly I didn't love it or think it was that great.
its a nice watch if your a fan and its nice to see them together watching/reacting to the archive footage but eh..not a doc I'd really watch again.

when they were all watching the archival footage its funny to see Meth be the most outspoken and him doing that led to Deck etc being more open.
especially with the Cilvaringz bullshyt album while Rza had to sit there head down.

Meth was the first one to wrap it up when he felt Rza was harping on..he was getting out of there.

most randomly interesting parts;

Meth saying that working at the Statue of Liberty was the happiest time of his life.
how they got the record store to buy the Protect Ya Neck white labels.
them being happy as hell in Japan
ODB/Rocafella situation and it weaving in and out of the whole Divine situation.
certain members having a dinner and Rae making somewhat of a point to Rza and then Cappadinna clearly having the most obvious but subliminal statement directed at Rza.

they wasted way too much time on CIlvarings...for a fan like me that guy was never heard/seen so i gave 0 fukks about it. i woulda rather had a full episode about Killarmy/Sunz of Man.

DEFINITELY the bolded and you can add Heavy Mental to that list.

Tical 2000 had too much fat on it.

Yeah, those dumb ass, unnecessary skits(save for 'Shaolin What' & 'Snuffed Out').
That's literally the only problem I had with the album.....the actual music was crack.

Agreed. The cilvarings shyt should have been a footnote, basically all they needed to show was Rza saying “cilvaringz came with an idea that I thought was dope so I co signed it” then have the other members say “fukk cilvaringz”. That’s all it needed to be.

Its crazy that Ghost was the one who was the cause of the Hot 97 ban and tour disruption but also the one who was responsible for the resurgence of Wu when he dropped Supreme....I remember to everyone he was the savior of the Wu as after that tour they started to decline until that album dropped. ...guess u can call it full circle

He didn’t really “save” them though. He delivered the most critically acclaimed Wu album from that era, but that didn’t alter their overall trajectory. SC didn’t even sell much better than most second round solos, despite the acclaim (it went gold, just like Beneath the Surface, Bobby Digital, Immobilarity, Nicca Please).

In hindsight, the disruption of the tour with RATM was a huge mistake. The Wu could have really established a fan base that went beyond the hip-hop world. I get that they maybe felt uncomfortable with that in some ways, but that was the best path the Wu had to become a big, widely popular group with staying power. Instead, their sales peaked with Forever, and just a few years later Iron Flag barely went gold. And we see where they are today. They should be like The Rolling Stones, selling out stadiums in their middle age.
