That Preachers Daughter hook/RZA singing may be the worst sh!t I heard all year. Maybe in several years. It's so bad that I almost stopped listening to the snippets. RZA really is a fvcking cornball at times now. There's no way in the world anyone can defend that sh!t.

I ain't mad at what RZA is doing musically, he's definitely become a master at music composition. Production sounds good, but it doesn't belong with a Wu-tang Clan album. Live instruments just are not going to sound better than samples and filtered drums here. If he was gonna spend half a million out of pocket, he might as well spent it clearing samples. I'll reserve full judgement though

I agree with most of what you say Hex, but I don't agree with them being done as a group. Like you said, you can hear the magic in some of these tracks. Miracle, Pioneer the Frontier, Necklace...those are prime Wu sounding sh!t. A lot of these beats sound really dope. THE PROBLEM IS RZA WITH THESE CORNY ASS HOOKS. It's disgusting. Nathaniel has NO business being on a Wu album and RZA's singing and voice is beyong laughable nowadays. I love RZA but I'm at the point now where I'll be happy to never hear him on a Wu hook or talking on a Wu track again. I cringe when I hear him on tracks, for the most part, nowadays.

I just can't think of any way these guys can work together cohesively any more. They obviously don't trust RZA's direction, he had to shell out half a mill just to finish the album. He had to practically beg people like Rae to even appear on it. They barely got a deal to release the album.

I'm sure they'll all continue to release music together under the Wu banner....but the days of a RZA produced/controlled Wu album are over, and he was the only one really pushing for a new Wu album, so I don't see another group album happening. It's been 20 years, it is what it is.

Just me that's feeling those snippets? :mjcry:

Most beats sound dope, the hooks killing them. Somebody shoulda dropped kicked RZA through a studio speaker for adding those sh!ts. If this album gets sh!tted on its gonna be because of these weak ass, cheesy hooks.

This may be their last group album. There definitely was much publicized difficulties with putting it together. But I don't recall them having any difficulties securing a label for it though. They ended up with Warner, a huge label, and that was a good look for them.

Nikkas fukking bytch about everything fukking thing :beli: overreacting like a motherfukker

This shyt sounds like fukking fire to me

Off first listen miracles, pioneer the frontier, mistaken identity all sound flames - rza bringing back the Ann Peebles bassline he used on shadow boxing for hold the heater :banderas:

Nikkas disrespecting rza - in gonna reserve judgement til I hear the whole thing but it sounds like he did his thing on here with the production. I even enjoyed preachers daughter - rza having fun out here with the hooks :russ:

Bottom line, just be glad we getting a decent album cause everything after forever has been borderline trash, even forever had its weak spots. Yeah the high points are legendary but half the album just sounds unfocused. Black shampoo

This sounds like first group album that I'll be able to enjoy front start to finish in long ass time. If Nikkas wanna bytch about anything, bytch about cappadonnas off beat rhyming ass - nikka almost ruined every snippet he was a part of :scust:

Loving the use of the live instruments as well. fukk the samples - this ain't 94 and rza ain't that dusty ass nikka in the basement. The reason the samples sounded so good back then cause they sounded dusty as fukk - if rza tried to replicate that shyt today the shyt would sound dated. If he went the other way and cleaned them up to make them sound more up to date they wouldnt sound like wu. Live instrumentation is def the way forward - updating the sound without making it sound cheap

So Rza is being his typical corny self on here? You guys wanted to roast me when i was saying he's become a doofus earlier in the year. He hangs with too many yes men CACS/Bum rappers and has an out of control ego.

If you couldn't tell he was toast from the Wiz Khalifa/Boy Jones song off man w/iron fists or the awful beats he had on the last U God album i don't know what to tell you.

That "Preacher's Daughter" hook might be the wackest shyt I ever heard in my life. The fukk was RZA thinking? :what:

Fred.

im on board with Mistaken Identity too, Pioneer is fukkin nasty that's gonna be a fav. title track soundin incredible, how about 4th crushin shyt with 2 bangers. Miracle might be doper than Necklace

Never Let Go has a similar feel to O Neal, I like it a lot more. Reunion :ohlawd:

not sold on 40th St/Preacher and Hold the Heater. everything else sounds above average to great. but again the slash title makes me think track 3 has 2 parts, hopefully Math brought something tough

obviously theres a lot of verses to judge, and overall songs, but musically im on board with it
