but you gotta understand from another perspective, now of course slavery is wrong; you have to understand that black africans sold their ENEMYS regardless of race. the tribe was the race for all they knew. and we relate more to africans more than you realize, just look at southern slang or ebonics, or the way your most black people moms/grandmas dress(west african dresses,and wrapped hair in a a west aftican inspired look), and especially the furniture in most nikkas houses reflect on a african standpoint (nubians,egyptian cats and portraits,west african vases,etc)

What I do believe is that his tanned light brown skin complexion helped him assimilate easily into an "black urban culture" in which the standard or typical look has increasingly become more racially ambiguous than just straight Black/Sub-Saharan African. Some reasons for this change, are race mixing and the incorporation of Latinos into the black community. The look and appearance of Black America has been changing to the point where a "Black American" will probably identify more with someone of French Montana appearance than someone of Akon's appearance. I think it's going to get to a point where Darker skinned Blacks look more foreign and out of place in the "Black community" than racially ambiguous people.

This is the answer. shyt is regional. In NYC anyone can say nikka if they sound right saying it, although once you get to a certain age you grow out of that (hopefully).
