This.We say the same thing about every generation.People were saying the 90s were bland there’s nothing to be nostalgic about compared to the 80s
2000s were bland there’s nothing to be nostalgic for compared to the 90s

Adults have always thought what kids like is stupid. If you dont get it now you certainly wont get why anybody would look back on it fondly. Beyond that, over time negative experiences turn into fond memories. You get childhood friends/family together long enough the subject will turn to times people got in trouble or hurt and it will be all smiles and laughs. So yeah covid, Trump, social media foolishness will be viewed with nostalgia.
