Of course a 39 year old center could not defend pefimeter players, but at the same time, he's an automatic bucket at the other end. Aint no 6'7 player stopping Kareem in 87. I don't know how old you are, but you've got to be trolling. Once he gets that ball on the block, as soon as he puts it up in the air, before he jumps, it's already at 9 feet. Draymond, a great defender, wouldn't have a chance.

He wasn't an automatic bucket back then, and he wouldn't have been an automatic bucket in this scenario.

You're basically saying that a 39-year-old Cap is better than a 2022 Jokic (who Draymond had a lot of success defending in this playoffs when they matched up with one another). You don't really believe that, but if you do, well, there's no sense talking hoops with you.

how many 6'7 players guarded kareem in 86? I assure you Ralph Sampson and Hakeem were much harder to score over than a 6'7 power forward lol. Hey I may be wrong, but I seriously doubt it. Aint no 6'7 nikka stopping no 1986 Kareem. Stop this shyt!!!!

Look at what Kareem did to 6'7 Dr. J during that 1 on 1 game.

That Clash of the Legends shyt? Really, nxgga? We're using a 1v1 contest that completely strips the element of 5v5 where there's help defenders and running up and down the court and using it to determine how a 39-year-old Cap would fare against the Warriors/Draymond?

In all fairness, Draymond isn't the defender he was from 2015-2020, now. He's mainly the same mentally but physically, he's not close to what he used to be.

Jokic aint got a sky hook A 39 year old kareem is one year removed form finals mvp in 85. Jokic runs the point, shoots 3s, etc. If you can highlights of a 6'7 player guarding and shutting down kareem in 86 or 87, I will kindly STFU and say "you were right all along..". The thing is, I think I gave Draymond an inch. He's probably 6'6. So that's even worse. He's giving up 8 inches. And no he wasn't an automatic bucket then, I was referring to if a 6'6 player was guarding him on the block.

The right small bigs can do better than you would think.

6'9" skinny-ass Brian Grant guarded Shaq a lot in the 2000 WCF. 6'6" Chuck Hayes was probably the shortest center that guarded Shaq.

Ben Wallace was a beast but supposedly he's only 6'7" yet he could guard anyone.

Dennis Rodman matched up with most of the bigs of the 1990s and he was barely 200lbs and maybe just 6'7".

Dave Cowens used to guard Kareem at just 6'8".

6'7" Wes Unseld would guard Kareem and before that Wilt too.

horrible example because in 74, Cowens basically said they COULD NOT STOP kareem . They basically said late in the series, they'd send doubles at him and make his teammates step up. And he still dominated that series. I didn't say it, COWENS SAID IT!!!. You're only proving me right with this post. hahah. And that's a prime kareem. With the lakers, as they plyaed other teams with 3 and 4 hall of famers, they couldn't double him. Had the celtics not doubed him in 74, that's another title. Kareem in the 70s was so dominant, they got tired of giving him the mvp award and decided to spread it around.

Cownes outplayed Kareem in that series

Whether or not Draymond could guard a 39 year old KAJ is not even a discussion worth having

Jokic's size, age and post moves in 2022 > whatever magical ability you think Cap had at 39.

And why does your simple ass keep reducing this down to some 1v1 matchup, as if the Warriors won't provide help when necessary? Why automatically assume that a 39-year-old version will even have the energy to dominate down low when he's being tortured on the perimeter at the other end of the floor? Why assume that Pat won't cut Cap's minutes right down and play someone with more versatility on the defensive end?

It's really not, but leave it to these [fake] old heads to string this shyt out for all these years. They can't let their comic book heroes die coming up against a player that they clown at every turn.

Were you trying to prove me right? I said Unseld, not Cowens, but you just threw in a great example. Cowens was 6'9" and wasn't a fraction of the defender that Draymond is, and Boston still won the series. You say they were doubling Kareem but the only player on the court for Boston over 6'6" was 6'7" Paul Silas.

So even prime Kareem could be beaten in a series defended by a 6'9" white guy with help from even shorter white guys. And we're not talking prime Kareem, we're talking THIRTEEN years later when he was 39 years old.

Also, it wasn't that hard to double the 1987 Lakers. Their top-7 were Magic, Cooper, Worthy, Scott, Kareem, Thompson, and A.C. Green. They aren't like the Warriors who are going to splash a three on you the moment you double anyone.
