Cownes outplayed Kareem in that series
No he didn’t lol. Define “outplaying”.
Were you trying to prove me right? I said Unseld, not Cowens, but you just threw in a great example. Cowens was 6'9" and wasn't a fraction of the defender that Draymond is, and Boston still won the series. You say they were doubling Kareem but the only player on the court for Boston over 6'6" was 6'7" Paul Silas.

So even prime Kareem could be beaten in a series defended by a 6'9" white guy with help from even shorter white guys. And we're not talking prime Kareem, we're talking THIRTEEN years later when he was 39 years old.

Also, it wasn't that hard to double the 1987 Lakers. Their top-7 were Magic, Cooper, Worthy, Scott, Kareem, Thompson, and A.C. Green. They aren't like the Warriors who are going to splash a three on you the moment you double anyone.
he still averaged over 30 in the series. hahaha. So if doubling him "held him to 30" with an old Big O (Bobby Dandridge was a very good player too), exactly wtf would a 6'7 Draymond do? Just think about that and get back with me. That celtics squad was one of the best of the 70s. Only 2 teams won more than 1 title in the 70s. Celtics and Knicks. Draymond would get abused. There is absolutely no one in the history of basketball that could guard a 70s kareem 1 on 1. Impfukkingpossible. No one!!!! For damn sure no 6'7 forward.

That question makes no sense. First of all Draymond is a far superior defender to Cowens, second Golden State has far better backup and doubling options than the Celtics had, and finally the obvious.....you're still talking about 26yo Kareem while we were talking about 39yo Kareem.

Come on now.

Why the fukk are you still talking about 1970s Kareem when the discussion was whether Draymond could guard 1987 Kareem?

And lol at you bragging about how good the Celtics were when Kareem lost in 1974.....why not mention that Kareem led two different teams to a losing record in 1975 and 1976? He wasn't just getting beat by the Celtics, for two straight years in his prime he got beat by MOST of the teams he played.

Draymond in 2023 isn't the defender he was in 2016. What possible reason could anyone have to bump this thread?

Celtics fans still sensitive after what GS did to them last season.

:wow:

Next three games after that one, Draymond held Randolph to 12, 13, and 15 on combined 44% shooting and Warriors won all three games.

Besides, '87 Kareem's game has literally nothing in common with '15 Randolph's game, so weird comp.

That wasn't even close to Randolph's best playoff game or series either, it was mid for him. You know what his best one was?

31 and 11 on 12-22 shooting in the closeout game, averaged 22-9-3 on 50% shooting in winning the series. FAR better than he did against Draymond. So I guess that Duncan can't play defense now?

Randolph also has a series where he averaged 21 and 8 on 57% shooting while beating Blake Griffin/DeAndre Jordan and the Clippers. 19 and 8 on 49% shooting beating Ibaka/Perkins and the Thunder. Had two other series where he averaged 23 and 12 and 18 and 9 against the Thunder too, but on poor shooting.

Draymond said to Shaq that he could've guarded Shaq in his prime, then he said Klay would've guarded Kobe
