You shouldn’t start any small company if you are already an executive president. That’s hustling backwards, instead just sit on boards of big companies.

I don't disagree with you.

I'm just saying that if you really wanted to get your rocks off with "being your own boss", that option is available.

There is no reason to pick owning a small company over securing a position that will earn you 10s, maybe even 100s, of millions.

Have a look:
New York Businesses For Sale - BizBuySell

Tons of small businesses up for sale. Some even successful. Why would they sell, you ask? Maybe it has something to do with:
  • Never being able to take a real vacation
  • Being on the precipice of bankruptcy during any downturn
  • Dealing with employees who could care less about your Company/Dream (it aint their career)
  • Dealing with multiple bosses, whether it be vendors, customers, landlords, etc.
  • Your succession plan is down to two options: Either your kids /family run the business or you can sell it. If neither happen, you could be left with nothing to show for it when you decide to walk away

This 'be your own boss' thing has gone WAY too far in the black community.

how has it gone too far...we need it...why you think black neighborhood are the way they are?
working for someone can be just as stressful

why cant you grow your small company bigger

I just looked up how much the ceo of exxon made. And it was 23 mil in one year :banderas:
- im working my one year and retiring :pachaha:

Executive president is not the same as CEO though. that's about 4 hierachy down

CEO
COO (also known as directors at exxon)
senior vice president (I don't know why they rank higher but they do)
Executive president

Rather be a small business owner. Especially where I’m at in the Midwest. 300k a year and be my own boss. After the first couple years hire someone to be the GM and then just work 25/30 hours a week helping out. Which is essentially what my owner does now.

edit: won’t have to answer to share holders or board of directors. Won’t be a scapegoat if something goes wrong. I mean don’t get me wrong if someone wanted to give me the Exxon job I would take that too for a couple years then retire and play golf all day

After seeing the stress caused by both, through my parents, I’d prefer a SMALL business that allows me to invest and cover my modest lifestyle. I have a confrontational personality and it doesn’t mix well with corporate backstabbing environments.

Imma take successful small company that means you have workers so you don’t necessarily have to be in your store or whatever all day

plus not having to ask someone is it cool to take a vacation and have the freedom to make your own schedule is priceless

living life on your own terms >>.

Finally someone who gets it :blessed:

The average small business owner makes $71,813 a year. 86.3% of small business owners make less than $100,000 a year in income.

In other words, a small business in the midwest would be extremely lucky to clear $100k for the owner.

Everything you said is generally incorrect.

Most small biz owners prefer to be in the store/business as often as possible because they do not fully trust their employees (e.g. stealing, being lazy). Consequently, these owners rarely ever take long vacation.

I get this is an extreme case but why would I take the stress and unpredictability of running a small business over a seriously high paying job with top notch benefits and perks? All because I can't call myself a boss? :mjlol:

well i own a small business and have an office and am looking to get a store front but small business doesn’t mean store either or could be businesses 2 business or online business

that being said freedom of flexibility is priceless i get up every mornin and do what i want if i want to spontaneously go to Jamaica right now i could and don’t have to let anyone know ….if your success small business can be ran remotely that’s the best scenario you could be on permanent vacation working from a beach
