SCORING PGS DIDNT
BECOME THE STANDARD UNTIL
LAST DECADE.

STOCKTON DIDNT TAKE
A LOT OF SHOTS BECAUSE
THAT WASNT WHAT A PG
WAS SUPPOSED TO DO.

I REMEMBER GUYS LIKE
ROSE BEING MALIGNED
WHILE GUYS LIKE RONDO WERE PRAISED.

HOW QUICK WE FORGET...

ONCE UNDERSIZED SGs LIKE STEPH
GOT POPULAR AMONGST
THE MEDIA, PGS PLAYING
LIKE TRADITIONAL PGS
DIDNT MATTER ANYMORE.

PUT STOCKTON IN THIS ERA
AND HES TAKING MORE SHOTS.

SAME FOR NASH.

I did not forget anything. Stockton was a low volume scorer even among his era of guards, he simply wasn't aggressive in half-court settings. Even Nash was more aggressive than him.

STOCKTON HAS 6 YR STRETCH OF
16pts & 14 ast...

NASH HAS A 6 YR STRETCH OF
17pts & 11 ast...

:unimpressed:I GUESS STOCK SHOULD HAVE BEEN
AVERAGING 20 & 14...

Points mostly depend on opportunity.

Averaging 25 points tells you nothing about a player’s effectiveness or value on its own.

You might average 25 points in today’s league. Of course it might take you 110 attempts to get there. But technically you could average it.

LOL you want to call me by that name as if there's some intimate connection between us. I'm touched, really.
Make a sound argument instead of glorifying the past.

What John Stockton did in 1995 has almost no relevance to what is happening in 2022.
Much in the same way that what Gail Goodrich did in 1968 had almost no relevance to what was happening in 1995.

As usual with these discussions you’ve got to make assumptions such as is he PG in Bucks, be traded for Ben Simmons or without a freak in the paint? Would Lebron recruit him instead of Sabo and have a coach with balls? Would he even be enough for Philly or would he be forced to take twice as many shots and if so would that shooting efficiency stick? Or literally envision him in cp3s path.

There’s like a 100 things that need to be considered or else it’s just a pointless grumpy old head vs only seen statistics youngin battle

Stockton would do fine playing today. Some mentions of Chris Paul so compared their 17th year:

Chris Paul
FG% - 47.3%
3PT - 32.2%
Rebounds - 4.3
Assists - 9.9
Steals - 1.9
Points - 13.9

John Stockton
FG% - 51.7%
3PT - 32.1%
Rebounds - 3.2
Assists - 8.2
Steals - 1.9
Points - 13.4

Coupled with what other players who have actually played against him said.

He would be elite like prime Rondo but as a 50/40/90 guy basically

He also wasn’t slow he had good speed and quickness
