Why does it matter so much to you, as man?
Answer is ego, pride..etc
So you want the ring, big wedding, honeymoon, 2.4 children, picket fence house... but changing your name is ?
That's a good point@Chaos How would a woman feel if a man said he didn't believe in wedding rings? Would she listen to people bringing up the few examples of folks who didn't have a wedding ring or would she say "FOH. I want the wedding ring and if you aint down with that then lets part ways"?
*crickets*
Why does it matter to the woman?? It like the only thing the man asks for in marriage. Like homie said

Yep...my wife tried that shyt and I had to her into falling back. You want marriage, that comes with it. If you wanna keep your name, then don't get married.
Every woman in my family has a hyphenated name. I have an aunt that married 3x and has kept the surname of each of her husbands.
Perfect follow up from first sentence to second sentenceEvery woman in my family has a hyphenated name. I have an aunt that married 3x and has kept the surname of each of her husbands.
Is that so? Is it all across the board or just very common? My husband never told or asked me to take his name. I wanted his name, even though Muslim women typically don’t do that. I like the way it sounds and I want my nuclear family to all have the same names. This is a really petty and immature thing for a couple to argue about. I’d say they really don’t have any business getting married in the first place if they can’t respectfully handle this. It’s small potatoes compared to what’s yet to come. Being too prideful or selfish will destroy your marriage.
