Also I think women traditionally followed men because they had no other choice economically. But u can ask the Saudi Arabian, Indian and African chicks in my PhD program and their husbands actually followed THEM.
It seems like men who feel powerless have the biggest hang ups about stuff like this. We all lead in some capacity and we all follow in some capacity. At some point you gotta grow up and get past this gender bullshyt. Just do what's practical.

There are a lot of women who are completely mindless and whose only interest and hobbies in life is either to become zombies to pop culture or constantly thinking about relationships with men. They have no hobbies or thoughts outside of that. What a waste of a life and mind honestly.
Some men like this because they only need he woman for sex, cooking, and cleaning but for most men after the initial hot period this starts to become glaringly obvious that the woman has nothing else to offer. Especially mentally.

I think because socially that was traditionally expected of women and there are still strong remnants of that idea in our culture. Especially in more conservative and usually less educated social circles.

OP is generally right. Even in situations where they are interested in you, they generally don't contribute much to conversations for instance. They mostly have the same "hobbies"...shopping, traveling, "spending time with my kids", maybe cooking. They seek life through men for the most part. Of course there's exceptions and it's not necessarily a bad thing. Its just something a lot of men are starting to notice.
