Crowder would have made perfect sense with Dennis, Timmy, Crowder, Sap, Dwight. He doesn't fit the narrative right now to me. Beltics could get more for him but they need cap relief. Asap cap space and a future 1st should do the trick.

We'd have 2 full years to extract maximum value from Crowder, something the Beltics don't have the luxury to do. The Hawks can't just eat the salary of Jamal, it doesn't make sense. His contract is an asset going forward.

Thoughts on this trade scenario that's been floated out there today:

Cavaliers get:
Carmelo Anthony

i
Hawks get:
Kevin Love

i
Knicks get:
Marco Belinelli
2018 Minnesota first-round pick (lottery protected)

It seems like a poor return for New York, but it would allow the Knicks to get Anthony's contract ($54 million in total over the next two seasons) off the books. New York also would receive a first-round pick. Atlanta gets a replacement for Paul Millsap on a contract with fewer dollars and an All-Star in his late 20s.

Atlanta at the time does not have the required cap space to take in Love and would need to initiate a contract buyout with Jamal Crawford. It also would have to renounce every cap hold on its books except for Tim Hardaway Jr. and Mike Muscala.

While the deal fits on paper for Atlanta, keep in mind that under new GM Travis Schlenk, Atlanta has begun a full rebuild. Also, while Cleveland would get Anthony in this scenario, the roster imbalance issues would remain.

Schro/Love pick and pops:ooh:

Belli and a 1st rd pick (20s) isn't much to give up for a top 5 PF. I wouldn't mind seeing that deal.

Anybody else surprised the THJ market has been relatively quiet?

It would seem to run counter to everything we're trying to do (cap flexibility, acquiring assets), but I do like Love. I just think it would make us the T Wolves from a few seasons ago when Love was up there (non competitive, but he scores alotta points). Just not seeing the long term value for us if we do this move

I am surprised THJR hasn't really gotten any serious offers, like @Sly Cookin said we might get him at a discount
