WHAT DOES THIS POST EVEN MEAN?

ARE YOU GOING TO COMMENT ON THE ARTICLE?

ARE YOU IMPLYING JOHN WALL DESERVES A MAX CONTRACT?
IS JOHN WALL A TIER ABOVE RONDO, CURRY, HOLIDAY & LAWSON?

He doesn't have to be. If anything, those players getting locked up early benefits him. Less players to pursue + more desperation = more $$$, and that's if he hits the market. Wizards are simply hastening the inevitable.

None of the 4 players you mentioned entered their team as the clear cut franchise player (if anything, none of them solidified that for their respective teams until AFTER they signed their extensions; Wall has been that from the moment he was picked #1 overall)

Does he deserve it? We won't know til we see how he plays once he actually gets it. For Washington's sake, he better be worth it.

HE'S NOT THE GUY HE WAS DRAFTED AS.
IF HE'S YOUR TEAM'S BEST PLAYER YOUR TEAM ISNT GOING ANYWHRE.

YOU CANT BE A MAX PLAYER WHEN YOURE 10-12TH BEST AT YOUR POSITION.:manny:

and yet his stats are not far behind Chris Paul

if he hadnt missed half the season i am sure this converstion would go differently

They drafted him as the player they plan on building their team around. What has changed since then?

Well, that's a decision the Wizards need to make. Can Wall lead them over the next 6 years-- including next year, the last in his rookie deal to higher heights? If they feel that's the case, then that's who they're gonna put the franchise behind. It's a risk they're willing to take.

This is the same forum that scoffed at the idea of Jrue Holiday earning $9-$10 mil a year.

I just hope this works out better than the last max deal they gave out. Wall is talented but he is already been injured a few times in his career and that jumper needs to be worked on every day this summer. He has max talent but he is not worth the max at this time. I think a four year 48 million dollar deal like Steph Curry got would be more than fair market value for Wall.

Fair market value is key, and for Wall, that's below fair market value. He would have to play himself out of that range, and if you're Washington, why would you want him to?

g money was a bad move in retrospect but i know nikkas had to be happy when he came to Washington

:whoa:

Gil was the best thing to happen to the Wizards since CWebb/Rod/Juwan lead us to the playoffs that year.

That first contract was great. The second one tho :snoop:

So what is he worth than?

Whatever teams would be willing to offer for a guy they're willing to build their team around.

For the record, I'm not saying Wall really should be a max player because he has yet to fulfill that promise, but as I said earlier, you get paid off potential, and all hell will break loose if Wall turns out to be unable be the player they think he can be.

Its the golden era of PG's the wizards need to realize that. Other than Rose and CP3 not many teams really wanna offer a PG a max contract when they can just draft a curry, holiday, lawson, irving,etc... Its' all about supply and demand, not to many lebrons, kobes, howards, Melo's walking around so thats why they getting max contracts. The Wiz are overhyping Wall right now. If they offer him a max contract they aint gonna have alot of money to surround him with better players and the team aint going no where

If they don't offer him that, someone else will, and if they don't match, you're back to square 1. You won't have to worry about surrounding someone with talent because you won't have a player to surround.

They won't be giving him the 'max' on the notion of where he's relatively placed now, but giving him that money because they're willing to take a gamble on him reaching his ceiling. His last 10 games of 20 PPG on 52% and 7.7 assists, directly running parallel with him proclaiming he deserves the max only forces their hand even more.

Then let another dumb team do that deal. Wizards have to do what's best for THEIR team. 2014's draft will be pretty decent so they can re-up pretty nicely if they just let it play out. Give him a solid offer, if not, then gotta let him keep it moving.

Here's the problem that people don't think about.

Is it better to have Wall or to not have Wall?

If the answer is to not have Wall, what is your alternative?

If your solution is to tank in 2014... kinda like how tanking for Wall was such a good idea in 2010, then as a GM, or a coach, you won't be there to celebrate the possibility of getting Wiggins because you will be fired. You can't sell a fanbase on serial rebuilding. You just can't.

Indiana didn't even really tank and they have yet to get their entire fanbase back. Imagine what a city like DC will do considering they can just pay attention to RGIII, Strasburg and Harper instead.

I agreed with most of what you said, but you dont know much about this area and franchise.

The Wizards have been casually supported for 25+ years. And in those 25+ years they were not good, minus a couple of the Gil years.

Support for the franchise has been very consistent.
