With Skyscraper flopping, does The Rock need to change his gameplan?

I don't feel like he has one.

DOOM seems like it would be one of those kinds of movies but it might have been too early into his career.

I think it scared him off.

I'm way more impressed with Bautista in how he picks roles and his performances. I hope he breaks out with a leading role soon.

I don’t think he cares for real. He’d say if the fans were happy and he got paid and the people who did see it responded to it, he’s good. But maybe Shaw and Hobbs will give you your wish

Dave has quietly been building himself a good action movie resume and credentials. Was Tong Po in the Kickboxer reboot that co-starred Van Damme, and then filmed Escape Plan 2 & 3 with Stallone. If they ever get around to Expendables 4, he should be in that, too.

Who said that The Rock wanted those roles? I've only said that I'd like to see him in them.

Edit -- you're probably just referring to the tweet, my bad.

And GoW is in development, they have a screenwriter since 2017 but there haven't been updates.

It was released at a really bad time. Not sure why they wanted to throw in in the middle of summer. I would've waited for August when everything had died down, but I know this movie was somewhat of a passion project for him, so maybe he convinced the studio to go all in. Like you said, it'll be saved by worldwide box office.

He probably should slow down and get a bit more critical when checking out scripts (how did Baywatch: The Movie sound like a good idea to anyone) because he does have shelf life as a worldwide mega star, but it's hard to do that and to blame him for not doing so when the Brinks truck keeps backing up to your house. I would probably keep riding it until the wheels fell off myself.

I think the trailer looks decent and plan to see it on Monday or Tuesday.

Upgrade, Hotel Artemis, and this should have just released in August..

I have been saying for a while that the Rock really is not responsible for Jumanji's success. Jack Black and especially Kevin Hart play into the movie's success a ton to be honest. Rampage is not a bomb, but it is not some roaring success either.

The Rock is a great salesman, he'll do all the press runs and stay on social media out in front of his audience pushing his films.

For an A-Lister he doesn't bring much to the actual screen. He's great at being a celebrity.

Seven bucks started with baywatch which was why rock was going so hard for it when it got bad reviews. But yeah,from here on out everything will be his production company.
