I live in the United States
generation is sequence of progeny, not "progress"

1960s kids have high test scores
21st century kids have low test scores
21st century kids are not next gen?

What you said isn't the same thing.
Why? Cuz to make the same comparison you'd of had to word it like this

1960's kids take test
21st century kids take same test that is labeled "next gen" even tho its basically the same test

What myself and others are pointing out is you can't create a standard that has already been achieved and call that "next gen"

Or like I told Hex, I got an Amiga I put in a new case I want to sell you
I'm releasing it under my own name of "Cockmeat Computers"
But its all good tho, cuz its co-financed by Nintendo so its next gen :steviej:

ok so if a new 8bit console comes out.. its next gen?

Yes, it would be.

"Next gen" has nothing....NOTHING....to do with being better than the last gen.

This "next gen" argument is becoming the new "bits" argument. 8, 16, 32, 64. It means nothing, literally nothing at all in the grand scheme of things.

So 8bit is equal to 16bit now :dwillhuh:
What is the Difference between 8 bit and 16 bit
Now your just playing stupid here bruh...
do you even know what the word generation means, boy?
Yes I do massa, but what part of "same shyt in a new package" are you struggling to understand?

We in the digital age now. You can't come out with an 8-track and then say "I got some next gen shyt right here boy :whew:"

I mean, you can call it that. You'll have a following about the size of the wii-u userbase too. I'll even throw in winb :jawalrus:

The problem is that people are looking for something to blow their minds like switching from a flip phone to a smartphone or snes to n64, or n64 to PS3

Does anybody realize or understand that you will never seemingly be impressed ever again? Thats why people continue to buy Iphone, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc and samsung galaxy 1 2 3 etc, and the same tablets and laptops and mp3 players every year...

its planned obsolescence. The reality is they could still keep making nes and snes games and people would still buy them, granted there is better tech out. They really dont have to replace 360 and PS3 except for technological advances and fixes other than that they arent adding anything new thats really going to blow our minds.

no matter the product or the company they are going to keep producing until they decide to quit or people stop buying. its the same with cars, hell even food products.

shyt back in the 80s ketchup was real tomatos and sugar then it became tomatos and HFCS, people frown upon HFCS and want the real shyt back, now some bottles proudly boast on the bottle "NO HFCS" but they got aspartame or some other bullshyt...a couple years down the road it'll be something else.

your a consumer, either consume or go about your business. there really doesnt have to be a huge discussion or argument.

:usure:

Because every GEN there was a few games that made you go :blessed: welcome next gen!!!
And while we could be playing Atari games right now, I'd rather not
Do we need to go to a new gen NOW? You'd have to ask a dev (a person who makes games)
And they have already been asked this question, and the answer is HELL MUTHAfukkIN YEAH
Now the dev's who are not backed by big budgets? They got Wii-u and XBL Arcade to make games on. So nobody is left behind
The system wars goes on because one system does it best, the rest are upset over it...

I think both sides are right

nintendo has released low end tech as their next gen system in the past

remember the original wii was a gamecube with motion controls but it was a next gen system

but I agree with Courtdog that the wiiu is different than just that

It seems like more of a re-release and. a cash grab than an entirely new system. From everything I've seen about the system its looks as if it was built to have a short life and compete with the ps3 and xbox 360 only. I'm willing to bet that Nintendo is going to release a system within the next 3-5 years that will compete with the nextbox and ps4.

I got a feeling that the PS4 isn't gonna be some super-powered console as many expect it to be. It's gonna have a gameplay gimmick, though. In that case, Wii U isn't gonna be weak as people think.

when it comes to technology, next gen means newer technology thats suppose to be superior to the last. some of yall are trying to be extremly technical when you know it doesnt work like that in the tech world. its a buzz word all tech companies use to push their product.

everybody keeps shytting on the controller as a gimmick but its actually dope. the box might have weaker specs, but the controller is on some next shyt because its something that hasnt *really* been done yet. so id say its next gen by either definition tbh. i implore you all to demo that joint
