I think whats happening here is that, you are an AFRICAN who doesn't know black American/AA history. Soul food DOES NOT equal slave food. Black american cuisine expands all through out the south and over a course of decades. Not simply scraps thrown at us during slavery

If you want to get a good look at its diversity. New Orleans is a good place to start
