Naw, Mayweather hasnt. Pacquiao has though. Thats why Pacquaio is in position to run for President in Phillipines, sell a million plus PPV buys in the US and Mayweather is serving 90 day jail sentences for punching, kicking, and abusing the mother of his children while theyre watching, lying about his Guerrero PPV #s, and fighting popular Mexicans on Mexican holidays to feed off of their fanbase. #factsonly

Put the stannery aside. Pacquiao has not transcended the sport my dude. Im sorry.

i think it's definitely possible for another boxer to transcend like tyson and ali. my thing is, i just can't tell WHO it will be, or WHEN it will be. personally i felt, manny was on the verge of doing it.

Ummm, YOU threw out PPV #s as some sort of edge for Mayweather over Pac. But Pacs greatness is much deeper than PPV sales, as was ALIs. Mayweather is just this generations version of Rocky Marciano. Dont worry, history wont be kind with him.

you dumb as hell, Floyd's peers never say shyt like that, the boxing world has crowned Floyd as the best
not magazines, not fans, HIS PEERS
All the best fighters today all say Floyd is the best, thats just a fact

cosign..floyd is the name of the sport..he has not transcended it..you can't transcend the sport when a majority of floyd stans and casuals like the nikka when he's acting all ******ish but are the first to yell "boring" when he's fighting..things ali and tyson never had to deal with

Good question! My answer is no. You have to be bigger than the sport to do that and I'm not aware of anyone fighting at the moment.

Pac is the only one that has a chance IMO, but he'd have to have an amazing comeback, knockout Marquez, Bradley, Mayweather and maybe another great, then become the president of the Philippines.

Hmm, sadly probably not.

Anyone with the potential to be the next transcendent heavyweight champion is training to be a football or b ball player.

Floyd is nowhere near as big as Tyson. I don't know anyone who doesn't know who he is, I can't say the same for PBF.

I can't think of any athlete that has transcended their sport in the last 10 years.

Either an athlete is a really talented lame or is exciting but lacks discipline.
