With the unions leading the way.

To sum it up succinctly, we don't have high speed rail b/c people truly underestimate how large this country is. It is 3,000 miles from West to East. In Europe, you can drive through multiple countries in one, 24 hour period. You can't do that here. It is more economical and convenient to fly than it is to ride by rail or drive.

Breh, don't even start.

  • Nyc is 850miles away from ATL.
  • The average Asian bullet train is doing 200mph(only in the countyside)
  • At those speeds that would be 4+ hrs on a train.:comeon:
  • The flight is only 2.5hrs:usure:
  • Planes are more convenient and cheaper at that time frame
We gotta face the facts that this country is several times bigger than every EU country with Highspeed rail. It is several times bigger than JP with high-speed rail. And it is more spread out than China with her. :unimpressed:

That sht is only practical Nyc -> DC -> Philly

And maybe southern California to SFO

china has 5x the population of the KKA and is a larger country thank the US

with over 25k miles of high speed rail

The Chinese don't have property rights or labor unions. They can bulldoze your home while you're in it. The government would have to use eminent domain and with that, the legal fight could be drawn out over years. It's an apples and oranges comparison.

the USA is decades behind china in transportation due to greed and lobbying

China is light yrs ahead of the USA due to their commitment to their people and country rather than profits

If I ever become a billionaire I’d start a high speed tube system to replace the highway system or at least compliment it.

I remember talk about the hyper loop awhile back but with the advent of electric cars riding in tubes would be ideal because it would eliminate the dangers of how we ride around now. The weather aspect...no more riding around in ice sleet snow or rain. No worrying about animals running into your path, no worry of drunk drivers. If you make the cars all run on an automated network...smart cars on the network would then “speak” to one another on a basic level to know when to slow or stop etc... Plus you could go at truly ludicrous speeds. Plus you could have wireless charging built into it so you’d never run out of power. Plus you could single-handedly replace the trucking industry with automated freighters that also could be moved around the country at high speeds too.

We out here with primitive highway systems and no one seems to care. Just the lives that would be saved alone by the elimination of human error would be enormous.

There are some Southern routes that could meet the 2.5 - 3 hour threshold. Keep in mind though, a flight might be an 1.5 hours, but going through security, boarding and takeoff could typically take an hour, so you really have to add an hour to a flight.

Where as rail doesn't have the security and boarding is more casual......for now..hopefully it stays that way....but they'll come up with an excuse if we really get high speed rail poppin.

Again are you this dense? I'm not pro union. Things could get done a lot faster without them. There is legislation and other factors that keep projects from going up at a quicker clip. That's not an issue for the CCP. They will do whatever necessary in their own interests.
