Nah, whether people see it or not, it DEFINITELY goes down in the USA and has for decades.
I honestly didn't know.
Maybe its more secretive here because I cant remember ever hearing a black american woman talk about bleaching her skin.
But I've heard PLENTY of Nigerian women talk about it in the open, even compare products. Mainly older women, 35+

Skin lightening is not big in the States despite what the Islanders in this thread are saying.
Yeah i'm getting conflicting information in this thread.
My personal experience tells me that black Americans are faar less accepting of it though.
It was a thing in the early to mid 1900s when you still had a lot of freedmen and women walking around but died out with conks.
