Nah idk any AAs who would actually bleach their skin. Even when I was made fun of for being dark skin, I've never thought to myself, "Hmmm, I need to become lighter." My insecurities stemmed from being skinny. Never once thought about bleaching, nor did anybody I know.

Those are adverts. It's money - and it's how magazines stay in business. Ebony/Jet or anyone else is not going to turn down THOUSANDS of dollars - they need that money to run.

Just because it's advertisements doesn't mean Black Americans were massively engaging in skin-whitening products. They were clearly trying to push that agenda on Black Americas through our print media/media messaging. It didn't work.

And Noxzema is a cleansing product not a lightening product.

My family is from the South and most still live there.

My daddy was dark skin and he loved Noxzema - used it regularly. But, he was in love with his skin completion -- and that is why his ass used it - it was obsession with having clear, soft skin.

They use it for having clear skin - aka no bumps, acne - not lightening. Noxzema - doesn't even have anything in it that can even remotely lighten skin.

They're the only group that "rock with us" on some street shyt and never tried to take over.
Somalis and AA have lil skirmishes and end up getting along. They never fell for the "industrious good negro" praise, and cacs feel threatened by Islam, so there is no church connection.
Cacs don't vacation in Somali territory like they do in Jamaica, so I'd imagine their image isn't boosted.
They don't prostitute themselves for older white women on vacation, either.
