You have to buy that and it's not a real hustle. Every "net active" rapper paid for a promotional package and PR people to flood blogs, pay for placement, and create sockpuppet comments to boost fake views so people like you will listen, thinking they're hot. It works, but it's corny, and people like that usually get exposed as industry plants or local clowns boosting views if the PR team isn't professional.
Web presence doesn't have shyt to do with the artist, and word of mouth love never got anybody on....from the internet.

I always thought those CD dudes were using the rap game as a front to try to hide where income really comes from?

ITS TIME TO MASS PRODUCE USB STICKS WIT FULL ALBUMS ON THERE....IT'S SAD, BUT TRUE. CD'S ARE OUT OF DATE. A SHAME, ESPECIALLY BECAUSE COVER-ART+BOOKLET+TRACKLISTS ARE PART OF THE EXPERIENCE THAT MAKE BUYIN MUSIC ENJOYABLE..BUT IT'S ALL ABOUT DIGITAL AND SHIIT FUCCED THE GAME UP. USB'S ARE THE NEW THING AND CD'S TO THIS GENERATION ARE LIKE WHAT TAPES WERE IN 2000.....STILL BETTER THAN NOTHIN THO.

shyt that ain't just NY thing. When I was living in Grand Rapids I got stopped by a cat at the mall trying to sell his shyt. I told him I don't carry cash on me, but happened to have three dollars on me. Plus most cats here that's on that local rap shyt is :trash: anyway. I ain't hatin, it is what it is. Been burnt before by that shyt. I could see the struggle and earnestness in this breh and gave him the bread. CD was pretty dope:ehh:. Lost it while moving tho. They call themselves the BMW Boyz. They had a couple of videos on YT, but seem to been inactive for awhile. Hope they ain't locked up or worse. They one of the few local acts that could be legit eatin off their shyt.

I didn't read all the comments yet, but the CD thing in Nyc is just another scam tourists fall for.

I'm sure there's a few hungry artists out there trying to get their music heard.

But most of them are just hustling. They'll ask you for your name, then write your name on the CD with a sharpie. (Or autograph it them self in front of u) Now u have to pay for it bc they wrote on it. Sometimes the CD is blank, often it only has 3 or 4 shytty songs on it.

It's an ollld scam that people still fall for.
