Why not just push your music on the internet?

Promoting your music on the internet can reach more people and can reach further than handing out cd's ever could

None of that shyt works and it never worked.
It was all paid for and phoney pr.
Everyone who got on already was working with a drawing name.
or a person with a production company wack deal on a major.

All of them,......
Online has not helped anyone since hiphopsite.com

Tell me why me and my man was out in AZ for all star weekend and my mans who's from southside Jamaica got got in that cup and ball game.

Some NY nikkas was running that hustle in a nightclub bathroom and got everybody. But how You from NYC and go to AZ and get got

How you don't know the whole elaborate setup for that and you are alive is the question.

Everyone that is local does that though..If your an unknown, you need something for the person to remember you for

I think with everyone rapping, actually being out there on the pavement is more helpful...it shows your grinding and it excellent for networking..

if your a good dude, who knows where a simple convo can take you

Besides those cd's can be a tax writeoff

Selling cd's of your own music is the worst you could do.
It is what someone who refuses to learn what the business of music would do and have real skill would do in this day and age.
If you not percee p at fatbeats.
You, not getting on doing it without sellING out.
After someone sees you sellin cd's on the street.
your draw is dead as an artist.
How you gon be desperate to revenue grab like that.
When, you know rap been sellout flossy jiggy for twenty years come next year.
Every rapper who tries to sell me a cd on the street is usually a toy, too

they didnt tell me that. i chose the air for its slim profile and didnt care about an optical drive. they had half a dozen other options that have optical drives, i swear some of you live in the early 2000s theres absolutely no need for it ins 2015. not once in 2 years have a thought :ohhh:"i want to do x but i need a cd rom to do it"

They less poor in the BX?:skip:

Seriously tho I never been to Rochester

Probably. The BX has a lot of poverty but it's close to a lot of money in other boroughs and Westchester. Worst comes to worst, people could commute to jobs in Manhattan etc.

Rochester is a rust belt city in the middle of nowhere.

yes it can.... but no it wont

tell me the last time you PAID MONEY for someone not famous.... all them nikkas on your social media... when's the last time you even listened to a song... when's the last time you BOUGHT one?

it's 99 cents.. 1 fukking dollar, to help support someone you probably know and talk to.... but do you? does 20 people? 50? 100? NO

you can sell cds for a week outside, and make that.. and if you give them away, double or triple that number....

people think you just gonna put out music... and viola... 1000 views

look at your fav local rapper (no deal) and their views online... follows.... likes.... i promise you it's less than 1000 on each and that's free to do

you start bringing up money, where people don't even have to tell you no, just not do it..... and you'd be lucky if them local dudes are selling 100 cds in a lifetime

In 2010 I bought a single off iTunes from a local artist

Or I should say it was an artist who I was supporting since they were local but then they went viral off this one song and when they released the song on iTunes I bought it

Which also contradicts art barr's statement about an artist being able to get a deal off the internet

It is possible because I saw it with my own eyes and no I do not believe this person was an industry plant

I'd support a lot more local artists on the internet if they actually had personalities

But like industry artists most of them don't

How are these guys surviving during COVID?

I don't think much changed:manny: most of them dudes weren't surviving off of that anyhow. That was weed, maybe a pair of sneakers and a metro card money. Baby mama or mama provided the food and shelter so as long as their good them dudes good too
