People in general don’t like backpedaling. U say something u ideally stand by it. It’s sort of a measure of character :skip:

You think the dude isn't in the trenches trying to get his agenda passed? How's having a 50+1 majority with 2 quasi-Republicans shooting down your ideas backpedaling? We had an agreement at $3.5 those turncoats changed their mind probably after a couple checks got cashed.

Maybe his clout isn’t what we thought? :ld:

I think it’s ALL about the margin. Just 2 more legit senators and this would have been passed 2 months ago

Those days are over. It will never be a simple process again.
Dems are too vast to agreentoo many cultures, races, religions, POVs etc etc.
Repubs just get on one accord and move as one (and say FUK ethics). Now we have dems that are purposely blurring the lines in favor of the opposition.
Shyt is trash I know :yeshrug: shouldn’t have gangstered Bernie looks like karma.

'kind of goes without saying at this point

Anyways I was thinking of things like Medicaid expansion and part of the reason that's such a priority is because red states never expanded it in the first place and purposefully f'd over their residents to where it's become a national issue.

NYC also has paid family leave

I'm sure I could go on but you get the gist of it

also not for nothing but I think nyc and nys have universal pre-k now

people need to demand more from their local government and state

red states and their residents are why we can't have nice things and why this bill turned into such a cluster f'ck

:manny:

/thread.

Fukk the Democratic Party with a pitchfork and their clueless enablers running corporate media, but the #1 problem in this country by a landslide with nothing else coming even remotely close to it are red state residents, who will ultimately end up destroying this failed state of America once and for all in the not too distant future.

Because the majority of Americans aren't on board with transformative legislation... and believe things aren't bad.:yeshrug:
The fearmongering and doom and gloom campaigns well, but its never being brought to vote.
Those that buy into it... will make threads like this :lolbron:
You're right, but it isn't popular to say. There's an obvious gap between what we could do better as a society and what people want. :deadhorse:

Personally? To get our arms around and dismantle the conservative power structure that republicans have been building brick by brick for several decades.

Fundamentally, what does that look like, you say? :

- eliminate partisan redistricting
- make voting (national & local) a holiday
- expand/restore voting rights ( return right to vote to felons, mail in ballots, etc.)
- expand the supreme court

- grant statehood to Puerto Rico & DC
- eliminate the filibuster
- congressional term limits

Everything in the bold needs to get done ASAP while Democrats have enough power to do so but I have very little faith. We already know Republicans aren't working with Dems on voting rights as they are doing everything in their power to either make things harder for ppl to vote everyday.

If anything, 3 of the 4 really needs to be done b/c Republicans are just going to abuse the court system. The filibuster needs to be destroyed altogether.

We gotta realize that most of the politicians elected support playing the culture wars because it gives them an excuse to do nothing for citizens. Democrats and Republicans. It’s disgusting.

The bill isn't a bad bill - it's just not the bill that we want and deserve.

There are still some very good milestones in it as presented yesterday.
For me, its that our politicians are honest as fukk about not giving a fukk about regular Americans. There is no reason this bill should have been paired down except for the donor class and corporations putting pressure on the elected officials.

Agreed...but they should of had a bill prior to the end of the VA elections and Biden attending the climate summit.
