I had a conversation with a coworker whose a Hip-Hop head and was telling him it don’t matter how dope your bars are…if you lack any type of cool/“it” factor…where dudes wanna be like you and women want you…you won’t resonate on a mainstream level and make an impact.

We ran down a list of GOATs and pointed out how they all had that on some level. Even someone as lyrically dense as Nas came with the FILA velours, Army jackets & Timbs, half-moon caesar that gave him an element of cool…same with Rakim in the 80s. LL, Kane, Jay & Biggie could rap AND knew how to play to the ladies/clubs with their singles. Cube and a lot of West Coast cats had that gangsta/“i’ll fukk you up” attitude as a draw. Someone like Pac blended a little bit of all of this.

The sad truth is a lot of guys are simply dull personas that know how to rap their asses off…and that’s simply not enough to be someone in Hip-Hop.
