Why isn't Big K.R.I.T. mentioned with Kendrick, Cole, and Drake of this era?

Hits and promotion. I’ve listened to more Big Krit music than every one of those names listed. He never had the hits, co-signs nor general backing of either of them, and nor even of Big Sean and Wale. As a rapper, I’d have him right under Kendrick and in front of all those other names, and he obliterates J Cole on the production front. Another thing is, the streaming era destroyed his sampling, I’m just glad I have hard copies of a lot of his music, cause the sample clearance stuff zapped away the soul of his beats.

I mean…Krit did executive produce a Bun B album that was dope, and they def need to lock in again.

As far as Killer Mike and El P, I hope you’re just talking about that RAP Music album and not the Run These Jewels stuff, cause that RTj stuff is ass

If KRIT was from Atlanta, I think he could have been able to hone his skills into something more marketable and it would have been easier to get a co-sign from someone in the city.

I had a conversation with a coworker whose a Hip-Hop head and was telling him it don’t matter how dope your bars are…if you lack any type of cool/“it” factor…where dudes wanna be like you and women want you…you won’t resonate on a mainstream level and make an impact.

We ran down a list of GOATs and pointed out how they all had that on some level. Even someone as lyrically dense as Nas came with the FILA velours, Army jackets & Timbs, half-moon caesar that gave him an element of cool…same with Rakim in the 80s. LL, Kane, Jay & Biggie could rap AND knew how to play to the ladies/clubs with their singles. Cube and a lot of West Coast cats had that gangsta/“i’ll fukk you up” attitude as a draw. Someone like Pac blended a little bit of all of this.

The sad truth is a lot of guys are simply dull personas that know how to rap their asses off…and that’s simply not enough to be someone in Hip-Hop.

This sounds harsh, but it's true. You need that extra sauce to be a star in hip hop.

I know people here question Eminem's placement all the time, but he had that in his prime. An instantly recognizable voice, the weird production, the sense of humor, his association with Dre, the fact that he could actually rap and he wasn't a gimmick like Vanilla Ice and he wasn't alternative like the Beastie Boys.......it's what makes him stand out from a lot of white rappers to this day.

Ironically, once his music started to become more about rapping his ass off and he became more mechanical, he lost that sauce. He started getting it back with his last album, but that's because he actually tried to replicate his old sound.

Dude has a stronger discography than Cole. Cole from the south too.

I honestly think its cause he didnt get a cosign of the magnitude those other three did.

Like imagine dudes like Big Sean and Jcole without they cosigns.

You really tellin me these nikkas making better music than Krit? :comeon:

J cole does drake doesn't

I know it sounds messed up but I think it’s because. He rolled with his country/southern roots too hard(pause). Bruh is simply too damn country for the masses lol.

Rightfully so and there’s nothing messed up about it. That country ass drawl is grating. I hate it. :unimpressed: It’s honesty and I don’t feel the least bit bad about it. Nggas know they agree
