Imma young nikka and im listening to James Brown, Otis Redding, Teddy Pendergrass, thats my fix
If it's critically acclaimed why is it not on the radio? That's my point. Critically acclaimed music should be on the radio. So the music isn't great unless rolling stone and clear one channel is co-signing it? If everything needed co-signing from mainstream outlets, we would miss out on countless artists. While I agree with you that mainstream outlets should play Luke James as much as they do Justin Timberlake, I certainly don't think the genre needs these outlets to thrive either. While Janelle Monae may not be new, she certainly isn't mainstream either, yet she has a great following and a critically acclaimed album.
You slipping if you ain't up on thisImma young nikka and im listening to James Brown, Otis Redding, Teddy Pendergrass, thats my fix

See that is the issue... People are winning grammys and half of Americia does even know these artist exist. There something wrong with that.
Radio is free not everyone can afford concerts Live shows, spotify, and XM, It is creating a divide between the common everyday audience.
Just look at how the art world is apart of the affluent lifestyle. I see the well made music and great artist being hackjacked and turning into a "rich" thing. Look at the music that's played in nice hotel and restaurants . Jazz, Neo Soul, Some R&B.. Janelle does not get too many spins on urban radio but her song was played at a Chanel fashion show tho ....
ExactlyMost people don't have media literacy, as well as underestimate the pull of record labels..
Drake is, watch his ellen performance of hold on we goin homeYou know what I don't get is when people say" ________is a studio singer". WTF is a studio singer ? You can either sing or not.
If you can sing you can sing anywhere.
well technically this is classified as r&b.
Idk how I feel about this
I don't either. He has a nice voice but the song is just decent nothing to write home about.
It's dead because nowadays if you sing about treating your girl right it's looked at as simpin. The music back then made people want to share in something deeper than one night stands and tricking. You had numerous cds that you could play through in any situation whether you were trying to make a baby or was going through some ish in life..
These cats think singing about love and real relationship things make them less of a man.
We could go on and on but, I digress
That's R&B just like Future Turn off the lights is rap.
The song is serving a purpose that was achieved. Why should artist cater to you internet guys that do nothing but steal music, complain and don't go to shows?
This is so far from truth. The only people that talking about somebody simping because they like a woman are you clowns on the internet.
No one clowns R&B singers for shyt in real life.
Love In The Future on that level?Yep and those R&B cats stayed getting p*ssy.
It's like R&B cats back in the day weren't afraid to say I make music FOR WOMEN and why not? They got lots of p*ssy for it they didn't give a shyt about nikkas getting mad over it. Now a days lots (not all) would rather make music for nikkas and not women b/c of being afraid of being too soft.
What they don't realize is a ladies man gets women and OTHER nikkas women too cause they got that smooth game. A lot of young dudes today don't know about that smooth game that'll make a woman drop her panties.
Im telling you that you are wrong. My brother you missed the point of what I was getting at. Let's put it this way the genre has fallen off hard due to this reason not on some Internet ish but real life.... As the saying goes, "life imitates art". You can disagree with me but calling people clowns for an opinion.... Come on brother.
We can agree to disagree that's what I love about this forum...Im telling you that you are wrong.
R&B died because all the money is in rap.
