Rnb is about love. This generation is about poppin pill getting drunk and fukking.
Imagine what would happen to gospel music if everybody went athiest
Damn shame how society became more primitive and selfish as fukk.

RnB was kept alive by musicians from black churches who made a transition...now most of the new guys can't even play any instrument or ever had any experience singing in-front of a congregation. So of course it will be trash
when did Trey turn Pop?
These are his last 2 singles
You know how the coli goes. It more comfortable to complain about shyt.
Whats "un r&b" about those songs? He turned pop when Justin Timberlake current album has more of a soul/ True R&B sound in it than anything Trey had put out in the last 5 years.
The Songs you post are barley R&B. Black dude singing does not = R&B
If were talking about why R&B isn't mainstream anymore, than were having a different conversation. But it seems as though people seem hurt that the mainstream (aka white America) isn't co-signing black music. But let's not fool ourselves into thinking that the musicianship and artistry isn't lacking in mainstream R&B. Not to mention those were some of the very elements that made the genre so popular worldwide. Artists like Keith Sweat, En Vogue etc were largely supported by the black community. Keith Sweat and En Vogue have a major following here and overseas. Support from the Black community is why Keith Sweat is still able to do shows here in the states.
But if we were to go back in time and transport Teddy Pendegrass, Bobby Womack, Marvin Gaye, Luther Vandross,Stevie Wonder, Hi-five, Babyface etc into 2014's music climate, they wouldn't sell in the mainstream and possibly in today's black community as well. The quality decline in music overall has been felt across the board.

R&B has changed just like rap has changed.
I don't get why R&B artist have to make the music you like.
There aren't Trey Songz fans that are disappointed with his music
Edit: Trey has never made soulful music. That is not his lane
I'm not hurt white people aren't cosigning black music. I'm hurt black people aren't cosigning black music. We turned our back on jazz and blues and now r&b. shyt is sad, especially since r&b is my favorite genre. I have to listen to underground r&b that no one black I know listens to. My name is from Janelle Monae, so you can tell I'm a big fan. My girlfriend was looking on my iPod once a few years back and she was like,"girl, you like Janelle monae?! She's so weiiird" and then preceded to bump some ratchet shyt.
Black people are the ones that killed our music. Not white folks.
This is hurtful because music is a part of our black American experience. When we were slaves, music and dance were some of the main things keeping up going. Now we've turned our back on one of the few things we could take pride in that the white man could never take away from us.

I don't like dislike Trey and I"m not saying he should not get radio play. I'm talking about artist that deserve radio spins just because they are not on Hip Hop/Pop/EDM trends. There should be diversity on the radio.
Your right he has never been a soul artist but he was more of a Pop R&B artist back then.
Not full on Soul per say but a very true R&B influence sound.
He is Hip-Hop/Pop vocalist now.
This was also his least selling album and the 1 album where he had no creative control.
Why should he make songs like that. When thats not the music he wants to make and its not successful?
Given a chance? People should support that music so the lanes can push it.That's not my point. Trey Songz can do what ever he wants musically. I'm saying that artist with heavy R&B/Soul sounds should be on (urban) radio as well and more new school artist should be given a chance.

The labels only care about the bottom line. Not which music is getting more play than others
People just stopped giving a fukk about the front. I don't think society changed that much.Damn shame how society became more primitive and selfish as fukk.
