Again, I'm not coming at anybody. I thought this was more or less common knowledge. If I'm wrong, please show me my error and cite a source. But let's not go to ad hominem attacks. And my fault if it was already mentioned, I had to knock out some work and just hopped back into the convo.
Nah He(IllmaticDelta) actually has educated people a lot on this topic before so a search will give you the threads where he does this.....I may even pop up in those breads

Points is hip hop wasn't created by a singular person so you can't say it was created by kook here, like KOnY said it was a community thing (although I argue that West Indians had a huge influence early on but I digress). The origins of hip hop are pretty much all in the AA musical tradition

Only thing j will say is reggae and dancehall are not just simple derivatives of AA music like y'all claim :stopitslime:

there was a whole thread on this

Hip hop sonically is the son of Disco and more importantly funk music
Utilizing James brown "let me give the drummer some" style funk
Hip hop club culture/turntable DJ culture was turnover from NYC disco club culture.
All of its influences are rooted in AA music

I wasn't on this board back then but I've seen the threads and it's part of the reason for what you sometimes see going down now on this board

long story short, he didn't invent anything. What he did bring to the table had nothing to do with Jamaica..it had more to do with American disco. See thread

He's not ethnically AfroAmerican

You haven't? This is common knowledge by southern blacks that hiphop was a northern offshoot of southern practices.

You realize that the aframs in the north brought their southern backgrounds with them?

Rapping? - easily found in the southern black oral traditions
Breakbeats? - is funk music which is also of southern roots
HipHop dance? - heavily rooted in Jazz dance which is rooted in the South..shyt like tap dancing and swing dance

Modern Dancehall is a bit more based on Jamaican invention but I can't say the same for Reggae. It's nothing more than a Jamaican version of Soul music.

IMO I wouldn't go that far...

They put a twist on it but the vocal harmonies and the basslines were lifted from Soul music whereas the closest thing to modern Dancehall,HipHop have totally different syncopations and beats. Even the socially conscious/afrocentric themes of Soul/Funk set the tone for Roots Reggae when you compare it to the love themes of Rocksteady/Lover's Rock that was based on Motown style Soul.
