People are always going to focus on rings. With that said, I think most people with a brain realize that in football, you need a complete TEAM to win a Super Bowl, or multiple. You can have a few of the best players in the NFL and not win if you don't have a complete team. In the NBA, one player can make all the difference when it's 5 v.s. 5 and you play both sides of the ball. Much more responsibility and more ability to impact the game. With that, comes a lot more criticism and praise.

ALso doesnt help that the NFLs dirty secret is: the nature of the game is so violent its extremely difficult for the "best team" in the league to actually make it to a championship. A 1 game series is not a reliable measure of talent. Its why Divisional Games/meeting divisional rivalries in the playoffs are so big.

and even then, playoff games against division opponents is crapshoot too. look at the saints/bucs in 2020. Saints probably take the series in best of 5, but the 1 loss happened when they couldnt lose.

You don't watch or pay attention to hockey then.

Old generation Hockey players, analyst and fans always complaining.

They shyt on the newer generations, shyt on the new rules, shyt on safety, shyt on not being physical enough, shyt on anyone that has a different attitude, etc.

They are the biggest haters in any sport.

Above the fray.
What is it with NBA media is it because it’s a star driven league? Is it for the clicks? Why do old players and analysts talk down on the new players? What’s going on?:mindblown:

The Vets speaking out is consistent with how proven players react to runaway unchecked hype.

Both Jordan and Shaq got chilly receptions at the first All Star Games. Jordan from his teammates trying to freeze him out, and Shaq from the Western Conference doubling and trapping him to keep him from scoring.

Media are dikkhead who act like each new star is the greatest thing since sliced bread. Natural that there would be backlash from older players and older fans.

Analysts and commentators are shytty, except for a handful of ex-coaches. Doc Rivers was good, Hubie Brown, Van Gundy, and Doug Collins too. They enhance the viewing experience with their knowledge of the game.
Otherwise, we can mute the game and fully follow what's happening without commentary from other guys.

I’ve been saying this shyt for the past decade, and some change in here. Now people are catching up.

There’s a cultural dysfunction with NBA media. The game deserves better.

Ring talk is a big reason. Nobody fukking cares that Barry Bonds didn't win a ring. Yeah, it would have been nice. Yeah, they did get on him a little bit for a couple playoff shortcomings but he deaded all that shyt in 2002 and nobody questioned whether he was "the best" player despite not having rings. shyt, Griffey Jr. was being put up there in GOAT discussions too.

For years people would debate strongly if Dan Marino was the best QB they ever saw. He didn't win a ring.

Unpopular opinion. LeBron james insecurity is a big reason for the decline. His team forcing dudes like Nick Wright and Shannon Sharpe to constantly debate him as the GOAT and make him a topic no matter what’s going on in the season has ruined alot of talk shows

Mike Trout has a .083 batting average with a hit, a home run, an RBI and a run scored in 3 games in the postseason in his career.

We constantly hear them shyt Lebron for his 4 rings
shyt on Lamar Jackson's playoff record

I think that Amin is part of why NBA media is as bad as it is. I think it's the sport that most easily gives into hot take culture. Amin is a clown too. Maybe pat of working for Lebatard is blaming other people for shyt you're guilty of.

I feel like the vast majority of nba media believes the current game is superior.

The worst sports media is for MMA by far as most of them are largely doing pr for UFC. You can find niche podcasts or fansites for nba/nfl where they think critically about the sport. That is largely absent for MMA.

Yes and with all his accolades everyone still treats him as the best of his generation and why shouldn't they, it's not his fault that the team has been pure ass and he doesn't get many postseason opportunities.

In the NBA, a player can be 1st or 2nd team All-NBA for years and years and people will treat him like he's a scrub if he don't have a ring.

Gilbert Arenas and his podcast talk about that all the time. 10%of the league are doing whatever it takes to win a ring/10% want to be competitive/the remaining 80% don't give a fukk

It's no different than the MLB and NFL

I hate that NBA greats aren't appreciated for being greats because of this dumb ass ring talk.

Melo was one of my favorite players to watch. I don't care if he doesn't have a ring. He's an all time great imo. but NBA media can't help itself.

And that has zero to do with this discussion on how NBA media shyts on players
