Big O was bitter for YEARS!!

but NBA talk even before this internet shyt was always just funny.

There were true Stans before Stans.

You will never know what its like to see a muthafukka fight another muthafukka over Terry Dehere!

:deadmanny:

:snoop::mjlol:
Haven’t heard that name in awhile

There was also a case that Sports Illustrated wrote an article about 2 friends in Philly who were arguing over whether Gary Payton or Allen Iverson was better (GP clearly was at this point).

It somehow escalated into a double murder.

Fans are bitter and don't actually like basketball. So they gravitate towards and reward former players and media members that are bitter and/or don't actually like basketball :manny:. That' why Inside the NBA is considered the standard or some institution when it's just Shaq and Chuck shytting on people. Kenny tries to hold it down by demonstrating that is possible to provide real analysis, and be funny or at least he used to...haven't watched in years so I don't know what he is on now. The league is smart to move away from this as, once the transcendent stars like Bron and Steph finally go away, having your flagship show be full of negative propaganda doesn't serve the league well.

Fam Shaq told Nikola Jokic during his actual MVP presentation that he didn’t think he deserved to win. Not them having a segment about it after the fact, but literally right after they just handed him the trophy and are interviewing him

I cannot imagine a world where the NFL or MLB would let that fly

I posted something similar on reddit about how the NFL'S social media and youtube channels are way better than the NBA.
If you go on youtube, all the NFL teams have great behind the scenes stuff, post game interviews. Some examples are Detroit Lions- Behind the Den. Atlanta Falcons on the rise. Just about every team has some good in depth quality content. Interviews, postgame, podcasts. Anything you can name. Like you go on the Commanders channel, they have older guys like Santana Moss and London fletcher doing postgame discussion. The Giants have Madelyn Burke, Amani Toomer and Shaun O hara doing postgame. The NBA social media content is boring. Maybe a few press conferences, and a few locker room interviews but thats it.

In the NFL that would've escalated into a fight

If your fans are "bitter" then maybe it's the product :yeshrug:

Ever heard the saying "the customer's always right"?

If people are telling you they liked the product better before, & the most popular people who made your product are telling you that your product is ass, maybe, just maybe, you should listen. :manny:

This
That gets back to people not liking basketball itself. They liked it better before because of Magic and Bird and Jordan and moreover the innocence and naivety of youth. Them nikkas 60+ :pachaha: they not coming back and obviously you can't make nikkas young and innocent again. If you are bitter that's way deeper and bigger than any product. There is nothing a sports league can do about that.

The NBA sucks because of too much three point shooting and the skill level is so high that kids from working class backgrounds are priced out from competing. The league needs a lot more Anthony Edward and Ja Morant type players to succeed long term.
Skilled Euros are great, but they won't bring the eyes and revenue of American stars.

That's ridiculous.

The NBA's been around 75 years, G.

That's 75 years of fans who are all making the SAME arguments about today's game.

NFL/MLB doesn't let big media downplay the past, and that is also instilled in the players. you might hear the occasional stray opinion from nfl players along the lines of 70-80-90's "janitors and plumbers", but their peers without fail push back and dismiss it

28 minutes in of this interview is a great example, djax is a big ego himself but he emphatically pushes back on mccoy downplaying the past greats. keep in mind this is their own thing, desean doesn't have anybody in his ear or a pre show producer telling him to defend past greats but he does it anyway

nba will bring up an oscar robertson if their records are in danger of being broken. Other than that? Crickets about past legends.

every yankee fan knows about past greats from the 60's or earlier, their broadcasts/national media won't allow otherwise. NFL fans know about historic defenses and offenses from 20-40 years ago. the steel curtain, ravens defense carrying trent dilfer to a superbowl, LT, 90's broncos, etc etc...

I actually think it’s been a really good start to this NBA season. A lot of good stories, starts and narratives for the media to cover let’s see if the media actually does it.

Also the NFL actually covers current events while the main NBA topic for years on social media is “LeBron vs MJ”. People that actually like the game of basketball are sick of this convo

The problem with NBA is that too many players get injured these days

I remember NBA from around 15 years ago, majority of star players would suit up for the playoffs whether it was Bron, Kobe, Dwight, Wade, Tim, Dirk, etc. Most would be available whether it was a short playoff experience or all the way up to the finals. There were a few injury prones like Yao or guys like Oden or Roy who never reached their potential due to injuries. But damn these current generation players not only do they have to skip several games, but they still are a question mark for a long playoffs run other than a few cats here and there that you know have been durable most of their career and could give you 30+ minutes of action every game of the series.
