I question really how "involved" Kanye is on the design process of everything.

Is he actually in the studios where the boards and sketches are being drawn? Is he actually choosing what material to use and what factories to have everything made at? Or does someone else do it and he says "yes" or "no"
to whatever he's shown?

I would bet he's designing it.
And if he isn't....if he's cosigning and approving these designs....he's still to blame for this awful line of "fashion"

I'm not a fashion guy at all but one thing I've noticed is that major designers use stars or high profile models to build their brand behind. Kanye tried to use himself from what I see. I could be wrong though.

I've felt this way as well. His clothing line is way too entrenched with his personal celebrity. As his celebrity goes, so will it. The average person who buys those high end brands or any brand for that matter don't know shyt about the creator. They don't know wear he lives, who he's fukking, who he hates, etc. We know all of this and then some about Kanye. This poses as a huge psychological barrier to ppl who come across his clothes unless you're a fan of his of course. When you go to buy Gucci the only mental association is luxury and that Beyonce wore it or Tom Cruise wire it and Heidi Klum wears it. You see yeezy and all you think of is Kanye. If you're a Taylor Swift fan you're probably already predispositioned to not buy it regardless of how it looks or fits. I doubt he'll ever be able to remove that psychology behind the consumer.

If other brands came out with the same shyt you probably wouldn't be seeing these same comments if it being "Star Wars clothes" or overpriced white tees but because it's Kanye, that's the polarization that you'll get. Some will love it (his fans) and some will hate it.

This is what I mean. I looked it up and supposedly they only made 5000 pairs. One man bought 5% of the entire stock. They don't make that many which contributes to them selling out so quickly and their exclusivity. These are the people he's appealing to. Collectors...not the average shopper.

I pretty much gave up on trying to cop a pair at retail price.
And that's why the sneaker game in 2016 is effed up. 90% of the stock going to 10% the customers. Having to get apps to reserve pairs. Waiting in line for hours. Only to have those sold to people who'll just resell them on ebay, stockx, or whatever hot sneaker reselling site there is now. The newest 750s are going for over $1000 on resale.

At that point, if you own a pair of those and wear them it's more like a conversation piece or to illict envy or get attention.
But they do look ten times better in person.
I saw this breh at the barber shop getting his hair done and he had the grey and white yeezy 750 highs on...

All I could do was just

At this point, Kanye's celebrity is so sky high anybody would kill for a cosign for him.

He wore a pair of Vans Half-Cabs in a pic with Madlib. Next thing you know, hypebest has a story saying "is kanye west collaborating with vans?"
Like if you have a t-shirt brand and Kanye is seen on TMZ in a pic wearing it, that brand will blow up.

For as much as people hate the guy, they are obsessed with him as well.

I see it in the hypebeast comment section anytime there is a Ye article.
The same people who hate on him will be the same ones doing a track to track analysis of The Life Of Pablo and will go to his shows.

I've never seen a celebrity who people hate on, but won't stop talking about them like Kanye.

Probably, he's a pretty good artists based on his drawings back from when he was at art school, and every now and then you'll see some design Kanye drew for a room or set or shoe or whatever.
